Heading to the DR for the first time in 2 weeks. Just putting general taster out there to hear of peoples experiences, good surf spots, and more importantly any solid places to stay you might have discovered at said surf spots. Research and word of mouth has me steering towards Cabrera and Nagua but it's a big place so advice appreciated...
Just got back from Cabarete last week. It was my second time going. Went with 3 friends who were more beginner surfers and everyone had a great time. Surfed Encuentro beach in the mornings. Most days it was actually pretty big...a little overhead with some power. Get on it early because by 10am the wind really messes it up. Cabarete is a great little town with lots of restaurants and bars. Nice beach to hangout on right in town. Encuentro is about a 10 min drive from here.
