That wipe out by the Brazilian dude.......

I hate nasal voiced Joel Turpel. Doesn't understand the need for breaks in talking. Wish he would never announce again hes such an industry clown.

Kinda amusing to watch the lil dudes like Slater barely able to wrap an arm around those 9'6 & longer guns as they carry the board up the beach. The boards make the guys look like kids.

So, it seems like the swell is falling off....still huge but long lulls.

-- Clyde Aikau, 61 years old & charging 40' closeouts, much respect.
-- Healey would be my choice to go into battle with.
-- The Rothmans are establishing their place as legit big-wave surfers who are fearless, esp Koa wtf, for decades to come; their sponsors are hoping & begging that WSL doesn't do a live interview with Pops Rothman.
-- Watching Slater 'emote' after his Brock Barrel is like watching a lizard empathize; great surfer but about as calculating & manipulative of his resources as any pro athlete that has come down the pike.
-- Pity the commentators attempting to fill air during those lulls
-- always enjoy hearing Turpel, he's passionate about surfing & he knows a vast amount of surf history, obviously a student of the game
-- Freddy P is a natural in the booth
-- why don't the announcers follow up when a surfer has a really bad wipeout, let us know the dude is good or the producers should show the guy getting picked up by a ski
    - - camera work is pretty good esp on the replays, HD makes it all watchable

enjoyed the broadcast - - and thankfully the ads have changed up a bit

    my 2 centavos

If you look at the replays, John John had a knocked knee stance. That, combined with a four fin speed board and his freakish ability and heavy water experience, took big wave paddle in surfing to a new level.
