Agreed. This contest actually was worth watching, (The Todos Santos a couple of weeks back was boring as all hell.). Wave conditions seemed to have shaped up better as the contest rolled on.

Commentators were, however, super lame and even ghey. I just turned the sound off after the first few minutes.

Good points Yankee. Waves delivered a full day and shoot maybe the lulls where a appreciated by the competitors. If ya'll get a chance check out the wipeout reel. Some solid surf at such a nostalgic venue. Mason Ho put himself in the mix and got really worked on that one. Good for JJF the young "Hawaiian"!

You know I was thinking his board looked more "high performance" when he walked up in the morning carrying his board.

I was hoping Tai'no. Just curious which variety of "native" you are. No racism. I generally try not to hate.

Taino......hmmmm.. very good. But no, not me.
So perhaps I am "imported native"??
Kinda strange, when I first got out of college I made up my resume in which I listed my high school in PR. Sent out lots of resumes; no response. My wife, French-Canadian and accustomed to the abuse imparted on recent immigrants, instructed me to take out my high school and not list PR at all. I resent the resumes out, got dozens of calls to be interviewed.. That was my first lesson in racism. In PR, the natives, with whom I grew up with in sandboxes, beaches and barrios, never once bothered me. In fact, they still call me every few years to return for reunions etc.

Wow, John John with the win. Man, I fell asleep watching the last heat seemed like a long lull...I miss anything?

    Kelly's/Brock's barrel was awesome.

How sore are those crazy guys that were running water patrol duty all day long, waking up today? Those brahs are awesome. Didn't see one ski get rolled, even during the massive closeouts. Their big water knowledge is unsurpassed. Amazing!

the shot of all the skis running for the beach when the bay was closing out was incredible.

I remember seeing one almost get cleaned up, he was basically dropping in on this massive wave and then he pulled a 180 and got over the top and out the back just in time to avoid disaster, that's skillz

Yeah, but that tube didn't even hit the height requirement of the contest, maybe 20-24 feet. I hope they didn't score that since it was probably the smallest ridden wave of the day and didn't hit the height requirement.
