why is adriano such a punk? these brazzo's are literally the worst. they're surfing style is garbage and they do stuff like this on the regular. here's Jermey's response after the heat: “He took off on me on purpose…It’s the worst sportsmanship but I don’t expect anything less from him.”
Jeremy's my favorite surfer and I had him on my fantasy team so I thought it sucked! In real life though I thought it was close. Adriano could of made that wave without running into Jeremy but Jeremy could of done a much better job of avoiding him. I say just let it go since it was a close call and even worse was them taking one full score away instead of the normal half score.
Adriano is spazzy and annoying. Also, why can't he get some boardies that fit? He kept flashing all heat. But to cluster all the brazileros in as a suck group is lame. Toldeo, Dos Santos, Pupo, and Dantas are all super cool guys. Medina is kind of a beacth but he has sick style and does the most progressive stuff on tour but always gets underscored.. Now I have had lots of less than amazing experiences surfing near Brazilians around the world (It's the worst in Peru) but I have had a great time with them too. IMO they are no different than Americans.....lots of cool ones and a few dumb arses. Also, that move by De Soiuza was lame but fine by the even lamer rules. Flores was dumb to not pop off right away. His nose pick thing is right there with Slaters Carving 3 as my favorite move people do in a heat
i disagree. i don't think adriano could've made that wave, period. even flores was going to have to work to get around the section while adriano got hung up in the lip on take off & was well behind it w/ less momentum than flores. yea, what he did was technically legal, but it was a ****ty move, borderline cheating, IMO. & i don't think that flores saw him, which is why he didn't react quickly enough to avoid de souza. to be fair, i have never liked adriano de souza. he comes off like a **** bag & has the ugliest style of just about any other surfer on tour except for maybe medina. he manipulated the system in his heat w/ flores, but i don't think he should've won bells last year, or had much of the success that he has. his surfing in ugly & has a crappy personality. i hope he never, ever wins a world title.
That was a real dck move on Adriano's part. I understand the concept of priority and using it to your advantage, but this was a poor example of its utilization. If this happened anywhere else in a non-competition setting, we all know what would of happened next. I really hope somebody from the ASP sits down w. Adriano and has a long talk with him. I also hope that Jeremy uses this as fuel and motivation. Either way, this could of ended far worse for sure. It was mentioned that this was the second time Jeremy had an interference called on him at Snapper? Was that a similar situation?
It really doesn't matter if he could've gotten a score (which I think was possible) it was his priority to any wave he wanted and Jeremy actually did the same thing to him on his first ridden wave....the exact same thing and Adriano backed off. The bush league part was the late drop and going straight towards Jeremy which I think could of been avoided. When I saw it live Jeremy seemed to look right at him and probably should of given way but that first turn was sooo nice. Don't get me wrong I can't stand the most of the Brazilians but I still think it was close. I just don't get the whole take 1 full score away rule.
I think it was a jerk move. Legal yes, but I mean he came straight at Flores. There is a possibility it was one of those things that just happened. Flores didn't see him until late (in the replay you can see when he looks up towards Adriano) and Adriano was expecting him to back off. That's possible but watching the replay it does look like Adriano intentions was something other then making the wave and getting a score. Only he really knows. At least it wasn't as bad as it could of been
