I agree. DE has no surf.. don't surf there. drive up to NJ it's way better there, or drive down to OBX.
Pick any year and the top dozen or so days in NJ from that year would barely register with a surfer from CA, Australia, Hawaii etc. When people from CA compliment NJ in any context related to surfing they are just being diplomatic. And the fact is, why would we even want people to think of NJ as a surf destination? As if we want/need more people to come here.
Jersey is as good or bad as you want to make it.....beautiful and ugly at the same time......its a love/hate thing....like no other place on earth.....Duke surfed AC....nuff said
Definitely don't surf Delaware, this is a big day
Being from Cal, my reply is that if I compliment Eastern surf, it's real and not diplomatic. Yes, Cal surf is more consistent and varied, but EC surf from the mid Atlantic up is, IMHO, very good when it's on and can actually be challenging. No, Joisey will never be a destination, but it can be a blessing if you are in the area. Growing up, you almost never saw any mainstream surfing publicity about the EC except for the occasional fluff pieces about Hatteras or Sebastian. Now it seems like NY & NJ are getting extensive exposure once a month. Even OCMD, for crying out loud. You guys are pretty much holding over there, and pretty much everybody knows now. I doubt that everybody is packing their wax and boar dies to invade your peaks tho. Count yourselves lucky. And don't be so quick to dis Delaware either. I'm pretty sure she can go off when other places are either flat, or out of control everywhere else. It wasn't very long ago when IRI was one of the better EC spots, and I'm pretty sure that a lot of surfers traveled from other places to get there. Local knowledge trumps all.
