its amazing how a simple surf thread can turn into a full on south v.s north/ new jersey v.s the world thing. **** even a argument on food???. here everybody go at it, hell ill help you start it. the best surfer in the world is from the south, okay that should help lead to a pathway of forum destruction.

this will also help light the fire pay close attention to the picture.

Yes, Kelly is from Florida, but it is well documented that the only reason he became the best in the world is because he left the east coast. He developed himself in Southern California and then moved on to Hawaii, thus becoming the best surfer in the world. He has written many times about his struggles in both CA and HI when he got there and how he continued on to become the greatest.

Ohh, and the KKK still runs demo-derby cars in all the western Maryland fairs each year. And they march through a town called Thurmont all the time... Shocks me to believe that these groups still exist. Even in the south.

Actually yes. They are both archaic and ridiculous... But the hoods and the strangeness of the Klan boggles my mind still. Its like a club for homosexual rednecks... At least the black panthers get to wear cool leather coats and sunglasses. Although equally lame.

People can feel how they feel in the privacy of their own homes and minds, but when you feel the need to organize and fist pump about your own hate in a large, creepy group, you are actually in what normal folks consider a CULT.

And yes, the Civil war had a lot to do with race, but that was not the majority of the argument. There is a lot of history just in South Carolina and in Georgia about how progressive they were to eradicate slavery before and during the war. The very island I live on was one of the first places that blacks could go to and live free. Although years later, all the people were left to die on the island during a hurricane.

dont forget about the surf klan? the black panthers were something else ill tell yeah, just as bad as the kkk no doubt. kelly did surf elsewhere, but he is from the south there for he learned on ****ty east coast waves which imo makes you 100% better when its on. give a east coaster a ****ty wave bet he will surf it better then the likes of anyone. which brings me to the point of people surfing short boards on 2 foot days here. its kinda funny i was doing it for a while then when back to a single fin 9,4, but i usually take a short board out then change up half way though the session. sorry got off topic white power!!!

Oh this is gonna get good...how 'bout the video the Black Panthers put out placing a bounty on Zimmerman. Not saying I support the KKK, but there's such a double standard in this country, and racism is kept alive just as much if not moreso by the other side.

No offense to sandblasters and the rest of SI, but this topic has been beaten to death and nothing good comes out of it. Just like the infamous NJshredmacine, topics like this just get old. Can we please move on to other topics or get back to surfing? Whichever comes first.

i know i thought it would just be better to focus it to one thread instead of some good threads going crazy with this and taking them way off topic.

Yeah, I guess the black panthers missed the memo that explains George Zimmerman is Hispanic. Idiots! I got into a huge argument with one of my child hood friends from Maryland about this topic. He started blasting on Twitter about how "A white man kills a black boy in cold blood.... yada yada"...
I then explained that Zimmerman is 50% Hispanic and 50% Caucasian.... He then said, HE IS WHITE!@!!!!!

So I replied: When our president is 50% white and 50% black, he is officially "BLACK" and the "FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT"... But when its someone that you DONT like, that is 50% Hispanic and 50% White, that guy isn't Hispanic at all! Such hypocrisy

I'm just saying, if the Black Panthers want to start a race war with Mexico and South America, do your thing... But stop putting syrup on sh** and calling it a pancake.

Surfers are only laid back when there are waves. I bet if you check the West Coast or Hawaiian portion of this forum that there hasnt been a post in weeks. And any posts are lacking the general anger that we have over here.

the laid back thing is an advertising gimmick. surfers stopped being laid back the second breaks got crowded.

The civil war of surfing is a hilarious concept. The north is clearly superior. It's evident that there's an abundance of jimmy Vegas style individuals from the south.
