Considering all aspects of the skiing experience, the best mountain in America = Kirkwood, CA

    Baaaahaaaahaaaa!!!

I've skied Killington 1000 times and don't recall chest-deep powder on a face that I had to hike 500 vertical feet to get to. What lift is that off of at Killington?

I hit plenty of chest plus deep powder last season at killington all you gotta do is venture of the beaten paths! And there are street spots that are really good there too! But what would I know I've only been snowboarding for 15 years!

If this is about years of experience, I'm 34 and I started skiing when I was 5. 34-5 - 29 years, and I'm not talking about once or twice a year. I used to get 30-40 days per season.

The bottom line is the best mountain is the place where you've had the best days. I've been all over the place out west, and I've been to Chamonix, FR. I had four straight epic days at Kirkwood, and never had a true powder day anywhere else out west...always missed out. Kirkwood also gets about 2x the snow as all the other Tahoe areas, no lift lines and much cheaper lift tickets.

I snowboarded 34 days last winter alone. I was in Tahoe in febuary and it was still good but not alot of snow ventured to kirkwood and got pretty much the same condotions! I'm not trying to have a bro off on who scores more I'm just stating that kirkwood is really no greater than VT

I hear ya. Last winter for New England was a total anomaly. We had way more snow than usual...best ski season up here in a very long time. Normally we're lucky to hit 100 inches of snow. Killington averages 250. Average annual snowfall at Kirkwood...wait for it...600 inches.

So what else to discuss? Pros and cons of skiing vs. snowboarding? I'll be controversial for a second...snowboarders ruin trail conditions and terrain park conditions.

Yeah. We all know that the best powder in the country is in Jersey- a chest deep pile in Shred's master bedroom.

Lolz okay break out the ruler and pull your cockout! Only plowers whether skiis or snowboards ruin conditions real G's leave smooth lines of finess! And if it wasn't for snowboarders how many resorts would have terrain parks in the first place? Terrain parks were designated for dual purposes to give snowboarders a spot on the mountain and hopefully keep them out of the yuppie skiers slopes! I make the laugh of hyenna when i read this!

Kirkwood v Killington! This is funny stuff. Wasatch, Rockies, and Sangre De Cristo ranges hold all of the best hills in the USA.

I love me some Vermont, but K-mart isn't even in the top three hills in that state!

Also - Kirkwood got 140 inches last year. of cement.

You need more than a ruler to measure me up :)

I can't argue that terrain parks all came to be because of snowboarders. That can't be disputed. You gotta admit, though, that skiers took to it big-time. Same with pipe. I think at this point skiers are going bigger than boarders because of the ability to skate for speed.

Spend some time in your local terrain park. Who do you see clearing the tables and throwing more spins, etc? In my experience it's skiers for sure. Generating speed and landing is easier on skis.

I was buying it...until you said "street spots".

Not saying the EC's best spots don't have their days (especially during last years record snow), but, during a standard snowfall season, when you factor in depth of powder per storm, terrain and glades (size of trees and distance between them), CA's best spots are in another league.

When going to local resorts(Pokin hoes in the poconos) terrain park is all I ride and I see an equal amount of skiers and snowboarders plow exfloiating that sweet ice sickle landing. This isn't a skiing vs snowboarding argument is it? cause that would be like rollerblading vs skateboarding or sponging vs surfing do whatever makes you happy as long as your not the jock personality type then I say GTFO!
