I just got finished watching this documentary and thought it was pretty cool.


Aurélien Duarte, a French a multiple Kick Boxing, Muay Thaï and Shidokan Karate Champion, discovers different wrestling sports and techniques from all around the world. He emerges himself during a week with a Champion/Coach in order to learn the basic rules of that new sport. At the end of the film, Aurélien fights with a local Champion. Meanwhile, with him, the viewers will learn more about the history of that wrestling sport and also about the country, the people, their habits and culture.

 

I don't know if this has ever been posted before, did a quick search to see and didn't find it so here you go.

REAL SURF STORIES presents: BIGGEST PUERTO ESCONDIDO WAVES EVER SURFED!

 

Respect to the lifeguards out there. I don't remember seeing this video until it found it's way into my Youtube feed. I find it to unfortunate that the lifeguard can be held liable for trying to save a life but not being able to or not well enough to some standard that's been established.

I do believe they have a responsibility since that's their job / career, but at the same time we all take that risk when we enter the ocean. I surf mostly spots that do not have a lifeguard on duty, but sometimes I surf a more popular spot that has lifeguards, I can tell you that I do not rely on them nor even consider them as part of the equation when i'm in the water, I simply take ownership of my life and try to make the best decisions on whether to paddle out or not, or whether to stay out or come in, or to take off on a wave or not.

I have never expected or relied on anybody to save my life, but it is good to know that if I were to go to Hawaii that there will be someone who is well trained that may possibly need to save me, but if they don't, I do not want them to be liable financially or legally. It just was my time if they are unsuccessful.

Everything about this video is flawless. From the music to his style to that wave. Especially that wave and it keeps getting better throughout. If there was a video definition of the perfect surf trip this would be it. Now if I can just figure out exactly where this is.

--EPISODE 51-- Ben Gravy is in town, and jonesing for a surf somewhere. I told him there MIGHT be a little novelty right out at The Point in Buxton, so we hopped in my truck to go check it out. Little did I know The Point had grown 200+ yards since I'd last seen it, and there was a reeling perfect right-hander coming off of it! Then in the afternoon it started barreling most of the way down the sand. 1ft waves have NEVER been so FUN! It's funny cause so many times in my life i'd have blown off a setup like this at home, dubbing it "too small", and thanks to Ben I've been given a new perspective on wave size and can now have an absolute BLAST in small surf. Don't let ideas of wave size get in the way of a good time...

 

I smoked a doob on that dock behind the surf shop where the band was playing at the beginning of the video. 4 years ago. Good times.

I'll be down there in August. Cruise on up and we'll make it happen. I'll bring some Philly schwag for Mr. B. Your stuff is prolly too powerful for him since he don't partake.

 

That's a helluva offer dude, and one I will consider. If I can make that happen I will. Wife would have to be on board. We already have a vacation planned to PR in October so that may be difficult to swing, but we'll see what happens. Only the sticky icky will be on hand if I do make it. The one hit wonder for Mr B! HAHAHA I'm not above puffing on some Philly shwag either!
