A number of years ago I was considering moving to Hawaii. I was young and didn't have any ties in NJ. I had a close friend move out there and invited me to move out as well and stay with them until I get on my feet. So I went out there for 2 weeks to search for a job (prior to the internet being so popular) I remember surfing pristine waves- in trunks and warm water- BUT only got about 3 or 4 waves in 2 hours due to crowds and locals.

Then I was sitting in traffic, during rush hour on a major highway. It was hot. And we where not moving. I had this feeling like I was sitting on 287... no different... so I decided to head back home.

I never regretted that decision, even traveling back to Hawaii for a number of years after.

Actually I think about it often- every time I catch my home break peeling perfectly and no ones out... which happens fairly often...

Me too pimp. I travel to Hawaii every year just to know what it's like to appreciate the EC. You never know how much you miss a cold breeze. Last Saturday I got barreled more in 1 day than 2 weeks in HI. But I enjoy reef breaks and different types of waves. HI is amazing but EC is too. Unless some punk shows up with a jetski and snakes the whole lineup.

Although- I must agree, there is nothing like a nice reef break!
