I've been to many of their shows, I met Davey Havok and Hunter Burgan after one of their shows at the Masquerade in Ybor, Tampa. One of my favorite bands for sure.
Think I posted this a few times, but sorry so many people have not heard of Wendy O Williams. She and The Plasmatics are a once in two generations type of performance...
Haha. The song is alright, but that video is lame! I think that's the first time I ever saw it. And what's up with that dude eating a plate of lasagna (or whatever it was) before tossing it? Haha. That's probably some guy I know or knew back in the day, and I just don't recognize him anymore. I've got a lot of mutual friends with the members of Sick Of It All. I know of them, but I wouldn't say we're really friendly or that they'd know me by name. Craig (bassist) and Armand (drummer) would have known me 31-32 years ago when they were in Youth Of Today and Straight Ahead. I haven't listened to a new Sick Of It All album since probably the early 2000's, but everything up to that point is pretty suite, even their two major label releases.
They were alright back in the day, they had a couple songs I liked. The one thing that turned me off was the singer reminded me of Jon Bongiovi too much. I mean his vocals. I've made this comparison before and a few others have caught on to it. It kind of sounds like if Bon Jovi started playing Punk music.
Figured this would be a cool time to go over the first song (I think) I ever learned to play on guitar. At least the solo part. Here's another one that I learned how to play on guitar pretty early. Here's another cool one by them. They're in their 60's and still play shows and tour. I've seen them a bunch of times, going back from the 80's to the most recent time in 2004. Here's a random one that also goes back to when I discovered Punk back in 83 or 84. Still listen to all of this stuff today, by the way!
Sorry for the blast posts. I'm a little trigger happy since I know how to post videos on this forum. Didn't even know how to do it on the old boarde.
Bon Jovi!? Lol I never thought that before. I prefer their first few albums, then they slowly got more and more mainstream. I have their first 5-6 albums I think. Then I stopped buying them. Kinda like Metallica, great music until they came out with Load and ReLoad. That’s when I was done with them.
I want to be stereotyped. I want to be classified. I wanna be a clone. I want a suburban home. I don't want no hippie pad. I want a house just like mom and dad. Then i really don't care anymore About all you jim-jims in this town And everybody puttin everybody else down And all the politicians makin crazy sounds And all the dead bodies piled up in mounds Oh and i guess that i just don't know Yeah and i guess that i just don't know
Always considered this hardcore, not punk. But whatever. It's just a label/genre. At the end of the day it all goes hand in hand. Showing some love for the NY guys i grew up seeing Madball....live (way before my time at this point). One of the icons of the genre. 25 ta life. Kinda lame song, but it's my favorite for some reason. Just awesome.
For anyone who like the heavier stuff. This is a sick one... And this is probably more well suited for this thread. Any guns up fans?
I modeled my first punk rock performance in my band "Leathre Skwid" (Notice the spelling of leather??) after seeing The Plasmatics play...
what are the best punk rock songs of all time? I went w/ bands/ albums... Bad Brains _ Rock for Light(whole album) CroMags - Age of Quarrel PiL Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK(song) Clash London Calling--- Almost forgot this one... If you think this old stuff is good now it was even better when first heard in the 80's. Small clubs cool scene... now not so much... Anything after '90 is MTV/emo garbage... Just an opinion...
^^^ uh-oh I think we have a Greenday fan going to tell us old guys we are crazy.... Hey for real though 15k posts? You need a life man... You posting from Lake Okeechokee or whatever that redneck hell-hole is called?
