However, my first real foray into punk was through the Descendents--love this album...

Love the thread, I still have a hundred or so CD's that I got back in my teens / 20's, pretty much every band that has been mentioned and then some. Seen most of them live, concerts were so cheap to go to back then. Hard to find anything new these days that can compare though, it aint like it use to be, that's for sure...

Southern Death Cult (later Death Cult and then The Cult)... plus the original guitar player looks like Rick Cane from North Shore.

Holy ****e! That's an awesome vid...never seen that. Funny thing is, LBCrew, I surf lb and rock all year round, but from FL originally...the gulf unfortunately where it's flat most the time, but used to drive over to Sebastian and Melbourne often. I was 6 when Bad Brains was performing a short drive away from my tiny ass. Life has come full circle....and now I'm drunk. Cool to see LB people like the good stuff. Are there any good music venues around lb? It would seem the perfect place for an underground scene.

Pretty rad, Oogly. Diggin the song, lyrics, and the cheesy video too.

    "The Pulse of the gods
    The drug of the free
    Organized violent sets
    In sets of three"

About Long Beach venues; on most of LI it's pretty tough to find a good one. Maybe a longtime resident could weigh in here as I don't know of anything solid over there (I think LBcrew is from LBI, not LBNY).

I could see you guys doing well at one of the summer shows in Rockaway though, or a rooftop show in Brooklyn, for sure. I'll reach out if something comes my way. PM me when you guys are playing next.

One day I'll get some of my music up here, but for now, in the spirit of this great thread, here's what I've been jamming lately. F*cking love the guitar tone on this track, like a rusty chainsaw cuttin through the air. From 1990.

yowza. thanks! not to hijack the thread again, but yeah, as far as LI venues, they seem to be nonexistent…far as i know. we did play the Rockaway Surf Club a couple years back…shortly before Sandy. we called it Hurricane Hoedown and had some other pretty rad surfy bands play there as well. got a truck load of longboard lager and land shark donated for free! you would think there'd be an excellent place to do a DIY beach party show in some half abandoned place, but nooop, not as far as i know. played on the boardwalk last year too, which was cool playing in front of some surfable slop. would be sweet to see any other surfers on here who play in bands come through the area and play some beach punk shows….like in the movies.
