Maybe the T-shirts really would help. Everyone should pitch in a few bucks and have the "I got butt hurt on Swell Info" shirts made.
And Austin can have a stock email reply for the emails he gets... "Sorry you got butt hurt on SI, but there's a T-shirt in the mail. I hope this eases the butt hurt feeling you are experiencing. Please don't actually kill yourself"

Adnim, I have a FUcasting question. Yes, an actual surf-related question. It doesn't involve angry butthurtfulls, how amazing.

On the OCNJ FUcast, SI has at the top left the direction the break is facing. It says: "Facing: SSE, Southeast"
And both of those directions are 'clickable.' The result of clicking on either of those two items provides a different FUcast, but still (apparently) for OCNJ.

What am I looking at in this scenario?

Never noticed this before, and I don't see this option on other SI break descriptions, butt then again I am not usually heading north to the Jerz to surf.

If you could explain what is most likely the obvious that I am missing, that would be appreciated.

    Hey Yank,

I'll take a stab at this as I noticed this for other spots (Rhode Island, Nantucket). If we use Nantucket for the example,
it has four break ("facing") directions: South, E, SE, SW, according to the forecast page. Looking at a map, one can see that there are beaches around the island facing possible swells originating from these directions. So, the forecast is given for beaches facing these angles.

I was looking at RI the other day whence the dreaded northerly winds (NE) were upon us here on Cape. The South facing RI was green, yet the East facing beaches were red.

Thus, I suppose the "faces" forecast takes into account the various swell angles and winds for each beach/break angle.

    I hope that helps.

We can also sum up this thread best by quoting one of surfing's greatest stereotypical Hollywood misrepresentations::
"What Jefferson was trying to say was, We left England because it was bogus, and if we don't get some cool rules of our own, then pronto, we will be bogus too."

You're welcome. There are a lot of features on this site -- I'm still figuring out the utility of them.

This ^^ is much appreciated, CDawg. Well phrased & thorough explanation; gracias paisan.

My follow up question is which breaks are those FUcasts actually for? Meaning, which SSE break? Or is it a generic SI formulaic thing based on the data inputs of wind, tide, swell, et. al.?

Austine seems to be busy cleaning up Great Dane puppy poop, and Austine doesn't actually surf, so perhaps the only good answers will be forthcoming from CDawg & other Forume-ites.

Sorry, messed my back up again and I've been in bed three days not being ablr to move. Can I answer when I'm feeling a bit better? I'm posting before I take painkillers but they do affect my judgment (as does the severe pain I'm in) so please give me a couple of days.

I was wrestling with my son on the floor and my daughter jumped on my back. Completely took me down. This sucks.

back would be fine if you surfed.... stretch, exercise, stretch, exercise. just saying. abandonne your homestead and move to the coast... at least to the texan coast. get yourself a wavestorm (best surfbort) and whip yourself into shape.

i used to pull my back at times too (nothing gay), before i became a local 1/320fth pro surfer.

point being: respect your body and take care of it in a preventative way rather than medicating symptoms, not that im saying you shouldn't share your meds with the members on here. hintitty hint hint.

As a father and grandfather of girls, never show your daughter anger because what happened; it happened in total innocence as she played with her dad.
Just a suggestion, and a hope for you to be well....and send me some painkillers, you see, I have this headache.......

What kind of pills do you have? Can I have some?

Painkillers don't affect one's judgement. They aren't Kasser's Premium Vodka. Opiates/opioids cease pain and create a bliss of euphoria. They just make you feel swell. They don't impede inhibitions or cause issues of judgement. Opiates very friendly. A few Percocets or Vicodins is just good American fun. Don't you have a tech device you could use from your bed? What is your connection to surfing, brah?

I don't frequent this place as I once did. This place was cool and all, but all things come to an end. I mean, Hey Zeus, Erock hasn't been on here in years. Even Spicoli bailed.

I don't know, arguing with MIS-types gets old after awhile. Maybe not for some.

Anyways, I came here to check to see in Brewengineer and Blaster survived Matthew. And now THE RULES are back...supposedly. Of Course, the infractions and BANS will still be arbitrarily dished-out according to whether SIMOD 05 likes a cracker or not. Some people get the ax...some don't. And they all do the same thing.

Really, if you can't name call or agitate on here, EVERYBODY, except Cape Cod C Dog and LBCREW, would be Banned. That's what people do on message boards. They get snarky. And tell fish and surf tales.

    But I Degrassi Junior High...

I say quit Swellinfo.com. Ban them. They need you. You don't need them. Look at a surf cam if you want to know what the waves are like. Watch The Weather Channel and learn how to predict waves on your own. This site is garbage except for the message board. You guys provided the entertainment and Mr. Swellinfo Guy walks away with 5 thousand, hundred, million dollars. Now some non-surfing company owns the joint.

Hey, some techy guy get with me and we'll create the bestest surf website ever. Y'all can say ****, **** and talk aboot crack all y'all want. Just no threats of violence. Other than that anything goes. And no NUBTV videos.

Yeah, Meechu Sklut, aka Mr. Swellinfo Guy, was an uptight, douchey pool-owner, but at least he surfed. At least this place was owned and policed by a few "surf bros." Now it's owned by some rock climbing, outdoorsy, hobbyist company.

Y'all are getting moderated by a non-surfing dude who gets injured as much as y'all do on 1-2' days at Folly Beach. Oh, yesterday I saw several shots of places in South Carolina. It was 2 foot. There was a cane right there. And it was 2 Foot. Man, you poor sob's. NJ was killer yesterday. At least at my jetty...

Man, Fark that Shat. Y'all rally for dudes like Metard and Yankee when they get banned. Well, take a real stand and say, "NO MAS!!" You don't need to suck-up to some internet moderator. They need your hits for ads sales.

As Dallas Winston said from his hospital bed before the big rumble, "Two-Bit you got that knife on you. Give it to me will ya...We got to beat those mods tonight....We'll do it for Metard. WE'LL DO IT FOR METARD."

Right, right, MIS, just save your insults. Save it for Thanksgiving time. It's old. I know, I suck.
