And then there's that, idk all the tricks, i'm just saying that it's very easy for people to come back and continue on business as usual. So unless you find a way to stop people from doing that, it won't matter how much moderation you do.

Mods, I think we all get the point and if you chill out and back off you'll see that the group will back off a little bit as well, keeping things fun but not over the top. Please accept this diplomacy in good faith and I can assure you the majority will cooperate. (Can't speak for everybody)

The vitriol and trolling are at an all time high. You all took your little boys club too seriously, and now Daddy has to put his foot down... Good job guys.

Personally, I think that these new accounts aren't duplicates/trolls. They're just normal people you all scared off.

Just like that cool chick with the double D's....

BTW boys......I will rephrase.....let the moderators play their role....it's what they do-moderate.
We play OUR roles, if we choose to accept the mission...to be participants.
You cross the red line, well, infraction or banned.

"All of life is but a stage"....William Shakespeare.

And I say..."Live it or live with it!!"

Now back to our regularly played program.......carry on.

That's just another way of telling people what they can and can't say based purely off of your OPINION of what's 'unhealthy' or inappropriate. Part of the reason people come on here and post is because they can have a good time (and to occasionally talk about surfing), and bs. You inherently stymie that when you start censoring people based on teh fact that someone said something that made YOU uncomfortable.

How is it that no one has noticed that we police ourselves for the most part. People who continually start unwanted crap are called out and ridiculed until they stop posting (e.g. Wayne). We don't need a babysitter to take care of it for us (which, by the way, you don't - you just seem to harrass the regulars when YOU decide they get to risque)

Ohhhhhh Austine, how you disappoint us. How you abandonnnnner us!

Do you really think all those clicks & lengthy page views are coming from people who want to see whether the FUcast is inaccurate yet again? Y'know....those eyeballs that get you all the money from the Russian dating site ads along with that freakin' Chevy pickup truck ad. And that make this a 'free' site.

It's all about Yee Olde Forume. You guys know this. You can track who gets on the site & how long each IP spends on the site & which pages. Guaranteed it's not from people spedning time dwelling on your Barbados FUcast.

Having said that, the guys who have made the most sense on this asspect are DPSUP and MattinVB. Why don't you ask them, actual real, posting, surfing humans to be the mods?

This place works through its own laundry & comes out worn butt clean & usually laughing. Take that intro tread from that guy yest & today: that is comic hilarity. If someone reading that can't see that...? They need to go back to mummsy.

And maybe that's the real issue. This whole sensitive-gen. Don't be mean to me or I'll whine to the PC thought police.

Even today, I got Ceppriano calling me a homo, siggbutt & his alter ego asstail donkey throwing invectives at me because why not, and the occasional backslash by slashdog when he's feeling chipper. Who cares. Just don't bring wayne back wtf over.

If you think it's a duplicate account please use the report feature and let the mods and I know.

    Light hazing is ok.

These are rules that have goverened the community since it's inception. I'm not a dictator, but if we're not welcoming people into the community before they get with the culture they are never going to get with the culture.

We allow a lot to slide and SI is one of the hardest sites I know of to get banned from, all I'm asking from you guys is to be mindful when posting, especially to new people. It would go a long way in adding new voices to the community.

If you think it's a duplicate let me know. I will confirm it then we can all tear them a new one. Sound reasonable?

Really? Reminding people of the rules is an issue? I think you guys are making more of this than there needs to be. This is a simple reminder that we have rules as anyone who ever gets an infraction contacts me wondering WTH they did. Now you know.

I just have a few questions:
    Is there a moderator forum?
Do super moderators get special privileges? Do they have SUPER powers?!
    Can I tell myself to " go **** myself " ?

Why did I never get hazed? Is it too late to do an intro thread? When did that become a rule?

Arbitrary enforcement of the rules by invisible, strange, unaccountable 'mods' is the issue, Austine. It's like the Wizard of oz is trying to rule over a bar full of opinionated, large, alcohol-fuled, kush-stoked, compadres.

    Destined to fail.

Besides, the only one who told anyone to kill themselves was Unky2B & he always modified that by saying he was kiddn.

I really don't see why you lords of darkness are stepping up the Five-oh asspect at this point in time.

I'm not caving into pansies. I talked to the mods who have been here longer than I have and we all agreed that it was time to refresh the rules and make sure people understood what was being enforced.

That's taking it out of the dark and putting it in the light.

The mods don't want to step out from behind their anonymity. I asked, they said no thank you. This is how SI has been done and and future mods will be allowed the same option if they so choose. I use my real name. It's not terrible, but then honestly you guys don't give me to much ****.

I understand jokes. I like them, I laugh, but running off the new people isn't funny. That's really the emphasis of the new rules. Please be decent in your hazing. I don't feel that's to much to ask. I'm not saying you can't haze, I'm not even overtly restricting you by telling you how to haze, I'm just letting you guys know what we expect and what will be enforced.

I don't have to be the hard ass here and I really like that. Please, I beg of all of you, don't make me be. I come here to blow off steam. Most of the communities I admin I have to be serious and deal with issues daily. I'm asking you guys keep this a cool place for everyone, myself included.

    Please?

Austin, do you really get that many people contacting you to whine, I mean complain about others?! I've heard the fellas speak of this, but I didn't realize so many people actually whine to the mods. Are we still allowed to issue t-shirts when people get butt hurt or are they offensive?

I don't think that's a good solution. If you know who's filling the complaint then you're definitely going to start issues with them. I think it's better we just enforce the rules we have, you guys start using the report feature if you think someone is not on the level and I'll let you guys know.

That's bending to your demands quite a bit and trying to bring you guys in on the back end of things.

And the reports are coming from one main group, new people. They don't understand the culture so they don't get your joking. If someone doesn't get it is it really a joke or is it just being mean? I think it's just being mean.
