You are so worried about new members and the growth of your congregation, that you are forgetting about the ones who got you (SI) here. I can't agree with all the hate and biatches getting slapped up side the head with a pepperoni, but you can't herd cats bro. This forum is classic because of its chaotic nature.

Thus, it has been my casual observation that when a new person arrives, and has even a whiff of arrogance, they are met with resistance and humiliation. I will say that I don't always agree with the "manner" in which this gets executed, however, it is apparently and principally the paradigm in both in heaven and on earth, thus most appropriate.

i agree with this as well. keep in mind, most people never get an infraction, let alone banned. most people here want to talk about surfing, one way or the other, and should be able to do so without getting trashed, whether it's their first post or their thousandth post. people who disagree with each other should leave it in thread where they disagreed, not drag their disagreements into every other thread - that's disrespectful to everyone.

and with regards to the consistency of moderation, keep in mind that none of the mods see all the threads and all the posts within. so there is some bad behavior that will get by unseen - it's the nature of the beast, not a bias towards or against anyone.

i too appreciate Austin's efforts - the tone here has gotten much nastier in the past year (i think the election has something to do with that). at any rate, we would like to change the tone and make this place a little less hostile to everyone. the rules have not changed, but the enforcement will - this will not affect most members.

and fwiw, i have been here for a long time as well, but have no other identity on here.
