No turtles were harmed in the making of this picture. My boy was actually quite the gentleman with this turtle. Our first encounters w/ them would confuse the sh!t out of him.

We have the Loggerhead Sea Turtles around here. The entire Island is protected for these Turtles. No light on the beach after 10pm. No Music, no nothing. That is why there are no street lights on the entire island. Kind of freaky at night on any side road. Pitch Black, covered in palms and forest. Can't see a damn thing, but the Turtles are happy. I'm all for it and it keeps the island looking good.

On a side note, I have a pond in my neighborhood and a few times a week, the wife and I will walk our Black lab and push our daguther around in her little car around the neighborhood, at the end, we stop on the bridge over the pond and feed the box turtles and fish. There are probably about 20 turtles in there. We always throw them bread and the turtles eat is all up. The fish are faster and they usually get to it also...

Well, last week, we were at the pool and I look out in the pond and see our first Gator of the season. He is about 5.5 feet. A baby by most standards... So, the next time we went to feed the turtles, the Gator rolled right up on the pod of turtles. We stopped feeding them, because I don't want to get the little gator killed round here for being getting too close to people... Anyway, I am just wondering how long all these turtles are going to last, because I would assume, when this Gator needs a snack, he is going to have himself some turtles...

They were not spooked at all by him. The were all swimming together, the turtles were basically climbing on his back, I am like, do these little guys not know that they are on the menu????

I've seen this at Greenfield Lake park in Wilmington (NC). People feed the gators, right next to the sign that says "Do Not Feed the Alligators", and the turtles climb up all over the gators' backs.
