This is what you want to see right before you paddle out... http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/.../florida-great-white-shark-sighting/95752546/
Just one?? Pfffttt......come surf at Cape Cod, Mass. There are at least 200 known GWs. Worse yet, is "Codfish" might be in the water with you.......
Oh i'm sure there are many Barry, just stumbled across this one and saw how close to home that is. It's just a reminder is all, sometimes I forget they are even there and don't even think about em.
That one is probably a Cape Cod GW, actually. The females go south to release their pups into warm waters to improve their survival chances. Great Whites feed of fish early in life, based on dentition studies. When they mature, seals are more suitable to their menu. The fish here flee south as well, so, it is a good evolutionary survival technique they follow. The males stay here but head off into deeper waters (Gulf Stream); some may head south, and some even have ended up in South Africa, doing a large loop of the Atlantic, based on electronic tagging.. Now....aren't you glad you posted that??
Yeah, it's pretty fascinating isn't it? Awesome creatures. That's actually the same deep sea fishing boat I go out on I believe.
This is the reason you should never go surfing alone. Always go with a friend but make sure they can't paddle as fast as you. That way you don't have to be faster than the shark just faster than your friend.
... " close to home" ..."deep sea fishing boat"... "you see it before you paddle out" dude... enough with the OMG factorials. its a big fish.. WAY off the coast, much father than you even paddle (unless youre on a DP sup) and unless oyure sarfng like... floridian cortes bank or something you have nothing to worry aboot. besides sharks are smart.. given a choice in the line up they go for the fat one. just dont be the fat one. o barry.
12' Great White Shark sighting aboard the Canaveral Princess that occurred today, 12/28/16, approximately 25 miles off of Port Canaveral. It came up and swam around the boat and ate half of a Mangrove Snapper that was being reeled in by a customer, Clarkson Ritenour. What an awesome sighting!! You just never know what you will see in the Deep Sea aboard the Orlando Princess & Canaveral Princess Deep Sea Fishing!!! Dude what are you even talking about? I said "close to home" because well, I surf these waters, and these sharks, you know, they have the ability to swim closer to shore with those fin things they have on their bodies, I know, it would never happen right? Look, i'm not scared or worried about it obviously, I surf alone almost every day and paddle out before sunrise, sometimes even in dense fog, nothing stops me besides lack of waves or sh*tty conditions, believe me, if this was really a concern to me, I wouldn't be doing that. I just stumbled across the article and thought I'd share because I saw it happened locally. I said "deep sea fishing boat" because that's what it is, and I have been this exact boat before, so I thought that was pretty cool. You don't like the term deep sea fishing boat? How about fishing charter boat? That better dude? "you see it before you paddle out", what? When did I say that? I must of missed that one...
LOl Nah man, just letting him know i'm not scare or w/e if that's what he thought because of my post. The article was just something to talk about on a surf forum, seems relevant. My word choice wasn't to sensationalize the story or anything, just stating facts is all.
Dude, he moved to NJ and became HARDCOREBOOGIEBOARDER-NJ http://www.swellinfo.com/forum/showthread.php?26068-I-m-back-Hello-from-an-old-friend-of-the-forum
