I always wonder the same thing. I am a wave hog (respectful). I will surf ****tier waves before I paddle into a crowded lineup in the summer. Its truly a phenomenon. I also like to avoid confrontation with people who are going to be disrespectful and drop in. I have a college swimming background and I love when people think they are going to paddle battle me. Id rather just avoid it all and enjoy a solo session
EW EW EW EW (ARNOLD HORSHACK) You just reminded me of something, CDsurf. I can NOT stand when you are sitting out there, and some dude is twenty yards away from you, and a wave peaks up right in front of you...... And the dude comes paddling over to you and tries to snag the wave. I can NOT stand that. And I dislike dudes who are too aggro in sh!tty, small waves. They paddle all over the place and paddle battle everyone for..........for what? A f'ing two foot piece of garbage? If you are over 18 and do this stuff, please stop doing it. I can understand the youngins extra enthusiasm but come on man, you're 28-years-old acting the fool on a two foot day.
there is an innate, involuntary reaction to anyone I don't know coming anywhere near me anytime after February
Why are you getting sore for? Look we all very nice here. Very nice. I don't care if people post my PM's. You don't have to apologize. Now you will tell us who you have surfed with on here and you will do it NOW !! There is no issue concerning etiquette. Ahh man, you've also got invited to BQ's with people on here? But how, you were on the left coast, and everybody here is from the right coast except for Natkitchen, he's on the bottom coast. This is becoming more than an issue of who you have surfed with on here, and now it is becoming an exclusion issue. Nobody has invited me for a BQ. Baddy with the Trailer has agreed to become my new Cadbury (chauffeur) this coming fall. Za Gaffer has even invited me to pitch a tent in his back yard. Hey, you ever get down with Za Gaffer? Seldom Seen is going to introduce me to his dog this fall, also. I look forward to that. I like dogs. Dogs are good Yeah they got fur They do what they should They like Big Sur Hey, Zach, did you ever run into one of the Laffing Devils in San Diego? Thanks for letting me have my opinions. But we have to recognize that my opinions are more like facts. Ya know what it is that I be sayin'? Zach, good Lord son, why you getting sore. Zach, do you watch Leave it to Beaver?
Wow, I'm so proud of you Gaffer, you got the correct season of Teen Mom - Teen Mom 2. Though I do like that Farrah Abraham from season 1. Dude, Teen Mom 3 was horrible. The only redeeming quality from that season was the heroin addicted boyfriend from Allentown, PA. Man, if I was still using ca-caine, I'd totally buy BACKDOOR TEEN MOM staring Ms. Abraham, but I only watch porn if I'm geezing on the white. I have morals.
think i might be a little the opposite on the winter gray...i'm usually alright out on my own then as i know with the 32* water and 10* air there is little to no chance of anything of substantial size... and teeth is swimming around me - imagination alleviated, although when it does get up to head+ it is good to see another one or five out there just in the off chance my board happens to knock me unconscious. on top of all this, i like to go left as a goofy footer, and at my usual spot the lefts break a little smaller (or at times can get held up my drainage or infill) so most are actually down 40 yds or so at the bigger break on the other side of the channel flow. also, to the original point, i usually hit this place because i usually have somewhere to be soon after i get a session in so it comes down to time (as was the case in Feb when my wife had a snow delay and i paddles out alone at sunrise here and high tide, mistakenly, and nearly got dumped into the reef rocks/tidal pool/cliffs - learned my lesson that day). but last weekend a big storm went through and said normal spot looked a bit sloppy so went south a little more for a longer beach (and therefor a little more organized wave). that worked out okay, but this more southern spot has a bigger river drainage and man that water was murky. wood bits, seaweed, marsh grass, you name it, everywhere. i was on my own. was really uneasy with that. water was high 50s, air was 60+ and i couldn't stop thinking about what was in the water. then saw small fish jumping not too far from me...even more uneasy. finally saw a couple other dudes out down the beach, walked down and paddles back out...had someone to talk to and really enjoyed the rest of the session....safety in numbers i suppose. this is what happens when you are brought up your whole life being able to see the black tiled line on the bottom. even with all of my open water endeavors, i'd close my eyes when my face is in the water and open when i breath. lake, pond, ocean, bay, workout or race, doesn't matter. eyes closed *gasp* eyes open *breath* and repeat for 1 -3 miles...
Depends on the spot and the time of year. First beach in Newport, R.I. can have 50-100 people out and there is still plenty of room to catch a wave. Just doesn't get to chest high + more than 15-20 times a year. Second beach has better surfers and can get ugly fast with people dropping in everywhere since the wave has a little more shape and energy. So 50 people hanging at the surfers end peak can be frustrating. Rhode Island still has plenty of point, slab and rock breaks that makes New Jersey look silly and like a waste of time... Yea I'm just stirring things up - looks to be flat for awhile up here
I've been in north topsail beach NC for a week now and there hasn't been wave over 1 foot and EVERYONE here is FAT and I've drank aboot 5 bottles of Jack,Daniels. And I had a run in with a small blacktip shark. I miss New Jersey. When I get back, im heading right to the jetty at the south end of brigantine and giving SJB a big hug.
And what the F@ck are are you surf fishing for? sand sharks? Where is Erock? CB Screwy? carter? There's no boardwalk or Shnookie or hair gel or Hindus. What the f@ck,happened to the sandbar?
Bro, based on your emo-tirades on here more than thrice, I'd have to make a highly educated guess and say your aversion to social situations are a 12-month epidemic burden for you. How are you bro, things going better? We were all a bit concerned for a while. We weren't sure if you were gonna make it. Considering "Point Break" is a trademarked term and there's yet to be a "Coral Reef" or "Rock Reef" character emerge here, we really can't lose you. Stay the course bro. Someday things are gonna get easier. Someday it'll get brighter.
Try surfing the Cove with 40 + surfers ... all locals and then throw in a handful of wannabe pros from NY or south jersey and things get ugly fast . Still it's a world class wave when it's on and worth dealing with a mob for a 100 yards of barreling bliss .
Hey this was lost on me yesterday. I didn't pick-up on it. So, you have a beef with Volcom, a seemingly major one, which you detailed on here, but you won't name the names. Who cares if they still represent the company? I highly doubt Mr. Volcom executive is going to see their names painted negatively on Swellinfo.com and fire them or something. Why protect their names? Who cares? You've already attached negativity to Volcom as a whole. Look, Zachary, I'm not giving you a hard time here, but it seems that you have become Swellinfo's new story telling darling, but you don't give us the real details. You won't name the names of the Volcom dudes you have been involved in public conflict, and you won't reveal the names of Swellinfo members who hunted you down in San Diego to surf with you. I don't know, man, that's kind of fishy. Makes me wonder aboot the veracity of said stories. Sorry, Zack, I don't mean to be a dink, but I'm just calling it how I see it. I don't get where you is be coming from. And you seem upset aboot people moving to California? Didn't you do the same?
