"dead sea salps. By July 1, more than 98 percent of it was covered in the decomposing organisms, according to the study, published this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. [...] Although climate change is a leading contender for explaining the major increases in 2011 and 2012, Huffard says that these spikes could be part of a longer-term trend that scientists haven’t yet observed. She hopes to continue gathering data from Station M to try and figure it out." You won't eat seafood, because global climate change is killing organisms in the water?
The gulf oil thing shouldn't be shocking. It doesn't just magically disappear. Eat local seafood, and you won't have an issue.
Corexit. google it and see if there's any positive links. On a plus note, buying eyeless shrimp is a bargain. You get more meat by weight.
I quit eating seafood because all the poisons that's been dumped. the gulf waters do swing right by. or used to. the water temp this years was cooler than years past.
I've nearly stopped. partly because of cold water (yes I AM a pooswah) but mostly because there's been no waves.
Maybe if you look hard enough and deep enough one could say. Lets stop eating all together unless you grow it yourself or raise it yourself in a controlled -non toxic environment. Unrealistic at best. Oh crap this is a surfing forum! Um has anyone seen the movie water world?
I just eat it fresh off the docks here locally in Wanchese, NC. No preservatives if caught daily...long hauls use the stuff and your body is already absorbing enough so local seafood or nothing my friends!
Those fishies are swimming through tons of toxins. eating smaller fish that swim through the same schitt. The fishing industry is owned by job creators. It would take fish being inside out before any investigation would even start.
