I concur. Many have lost sight of what a horrific time in history it was and the huge cost that was paid to thwart the axis conquest, end the conflict and maintain our liberty.

 

For the record, Obama did not apologize. I'm not a huge fan of his, but on the day I thought he did very well embodying a somber reflection of an awful time for humanity. But he did not apologize nor should he or any US president for eternity.

If anyone should apologize, it should be the Japanese apologizing to us for making us do it. The Japanese of that age embodied cultural fanaticism. In Europe, the Allied forces accepted surrendering parties of thousands and thousands of Germans. On isolated rocks in the pacific the Japanese fought to the last starving, un-armed man who would rather charge naked at a company of Marines with Thompson Sub Machine Guns than surrender. They were brainwashed robots of war, and they were savage.

Kind of reminds you of a large group of people who are assimilating into other cultures outside of their native middle east. Perhaps assimilating is the wrong word, though.....

Fanaticism is and has always been our enemy. No sharia in my hood.

 

I don't know, DSUP. Not trying to stir it up but I did think it was important to note that there was no formal / official apology. I honestly thought it was good to see common Japanese folks hugging the president of the United States, though. If both sides are interested, a mended fence is much better than a broken one.

What I do know is that if we look ourselves in the mirror right now we are losing the new battle against the Islamic State and it sucks. We have poor leadership and poor choices for future leadership. I know that sucks too.
