Wow, did the models underestimate this swell! 9ft, 15 seconds showing the del bay buoy and the va buoy. 10ft, 14 seconds showing on the buoy off hatteras...
Yes,...confirmed. Just got done looking at it. I just saw a "second reef" trying to work, with the high tide no less. When it is pushing up at that spot, you know it is real, and the energy is running deep. Maybe I picked the wrong day. I have a day trip with the girl on Weds., and was planning an all day surf on Thursday. Maybe I will have something left over for Thursday, with some off shore winds. But as it looks now, Weds. might be Big and sloppy, but way fun at a few select spots. Enjoy if you can.
is it gonna be ridable tomaro with all that sideshore wind ? hahaha swelinfo i thought you were kidding at first (i havn't checked the reports in a while) and i just looked at the bouy data and i was like WHOAH hes not joking !!
Yeah, I went out earlier and was shocked at the energy. It's been awhile since I got caught offguard on the inside and had to scrap for the duckdive.
i'm in daytona right now and this swell is absolute magic for the sandbars here near the pier...we've had onshores all day today and it's still some of the best surf i've seen in a while thurs lookin like offshores, i'll get some pics of the lines that stretch to the horizon (i wish lol)
i was thinking about asking you yesterday about this...NOAA Wave Watch III still doesn't see it...even the 12 hour "hindcast" part of the model is still saying it was 4 feet @ 12 seconds yesterday.. It shows how far the modelling has yet to go. Its not like this system is some kind of local windswell - big freaking storm right off the coast!
ya, sometimes, the models dont handle the storms that blow up really quick off the coast. Remember, there is very little observations from weather stations to input into the models in the middle of the ocean -> As compared to input for systems moving over the country.
Hopefully something left for an after work sesh tomorrow with those 25 knot offshores blowing... uhg.
