There is a swell coming up the coast this weekend...any suggestions on where to go? Im road tripping from college in PA and hitting up wherever the waves look good. Im been following the Jersey forecast as well as NY and even North Carolina. Looking for the cleanest waves this weekend. Let me know your thoughts. Hopefully it happens

People feel like they own the beaches. The whole locals only mentality is really immature, especially when everything on the east coast sucks anyway and at some time or another we all have to travel to get some good waves. If you got a honey hole and some kook on a 8 foot log shows up and starts snaking everyone, dunk him but don't hate on people showing up to public already blown up breaks. Don't hate on everyone that needs to travel for surf. Try getting a job or go to school in a non-coastal area, and see how you feel after a few months of no surfing.

A swell? You mean a windswell...

You're gonna be rolling the dice as usual. Try to go somewhere with spots facing different directions. And take your homework with you, just in case...

I agree with most of what you are saying. If people are respectful in and out of the water, there wouldn't be an issue. The problem is that the people who aren't respectful in the water and in beach towns are usually from NY and PA. That is why they are called bennys and shoobies because of past experience. I know the label annoys people who are respectful but stereotypes exist for a reason. There is some truth to them. The same thing holds true with people in NJ being compared to "The Situation" even though not everyone in NJ is like him. You just have to not be so sensitive and deal with it.

Locals see people invade the beaches and towns all year now. Locals pick up the majority of the tab for beach cleanup and replenishment. This holds true because the town pays a percentage for the beach costs while the state pays the rest. When, you break it down there are more people in the state of NJ to split that cost which probably comes to 5 cents/person. There are less people in the town who end up paying a great deal more and have their taxes raised. So when people throw trash on beaches, party all night which keeps up locals who have to actually go to work, and urinate/destroy things on locals properties it leaves a bad taste in our mouths. Until this behavior changes (which will probably never happen), you just have to deal with being called bennys and shoobies.

Also, you can live near the beach if you make sacrifices. There are also plenty of colleges near coastal towns. You just have to work hard and not depend on govt handouts. Take responsibility for yourself, save money and cut your costs. You can make it happen. Then, when you do make it to a beach town you will see with your own eyes the bennys and shoobies who have no respect and the Joey Butafucos who think it's a vacation and they can just live it up and trash our towns.

Thanks for some of the answers guys i appreciate it....and as for the ones who couldn't simply help a brothaa out and had to come up with some dumb *** remark, I'm livin my young years with a strong passion for surfing. Haven't surfed my whole life, (wish i did) so i don't know all the best spots. Reaching out to all of the other surfers in the area, who i know are also itching for that next good surf sesh, to get some feedback. "Its all about where your minds at." Enjoy good company, make friendships, share the waves, thats what its about. Don't be haters
