90 days!? Sheesh. Is it because they're busy? Only reason lost takes that long is cause of the volume they do and any custom is done by Matt. At least mine are.

Yeah they are busy. It's just Mike Daniel and Kirk Brasington shaping I believe. Mostly word of mouth. No advertising other than rider reports.

Yea... getting back to Torq Tech...

Sounds like they're actually trying to promote a design concept that is pretty much considered a flaw by all other designers... torsional flex. The whole idea behind perimeter stringers and carbon wrap rails is to take OUT torsional flex. Big, wide carbon strip "stringers" down the middle with biax cloth to create soft floppy rails... designed to twist under load? I don't get it...

LB I respect your knowledge in board design and construction, but I'm curious.
Have you ever ridden a board like a lost carbon wrap where the torsional flex is actually a design feature of the board?
I've sworn by PUs for 35 years until I rode a properly designed stringerless carbon wrap rail board.
I don't think they're well suited for intermediate average surfer but in advanced high performance surfing/abilities I personally have found they perform better than PUs in certain conditions.

Torq boards are solid beginner boards but nothing else. Their prices are dirt cheap, say what you will but they sell.

They also just came out with a CI collaboration for the Pod Mod and it retails at $505. The glass is clear where the emblem lays so you can see the foam beneath it which is kinda cool.

I ride only poly boards btw.

Talking about torqs, Curtis said to me, ' After the boards you've been getting, go try one of those and you'll be like 'wtf is wrong with this pos?'

How much you spending? Try an actual surfboard.

Plus the fact that the #1 selling board in the world is the costco wavestorm.

I haven't... but I don't need to to know that the Lost carbon wrap concept has validity. The wrap actually crates an area of stiffness right where you need it at the rail. Behind the wrap, you have a sort of flex tail concept, which is another proven design concept.

A carbon center stringer will act much like a wood center stringer... it allows the board to twist, which is something most board builders agree is a flaw. Perimeter stringers address this flaw, with the further the stringers are out to the rail, the less the board will twist under load through a turn. carbon stringers that start in the middle and curve or angle out toward the rail make much more sense than a singe stringer down the middle.

But center stringers are pretty much standard, and not a bad design. It just has it's flaws.
