Hey guys I put my first traction pad on a couple of days ago and I accidentally put it way to far up, how can I remove it and put it back on farther back and still go out on dawn patrol tommorow?

This sucks, especially if you're talking about your Stewart. I would peel off the pad and try and re-apply it a few inches from the tail.

Heat it up with a hair dryer and start peeling IMMEDIATELY. The glue on trac pad continues to cure over time and gets harder and harder to get off. Your pad is probably ruined.

Next time mark the placement with a pencil, then put the pad on.

Remove the traction pad all together, put more wax on towards the nose, and for gods sakes take that Ron Jon sticker off!

Agreed - remove the traction pad and get rid of the "Ron Jon" sticker. Ron Jon = Salt Life.

The pad is wrong for that board. You need to get a 3-piece pad you can spread out to fully cover the tail area or at least more coverage than you have with that one. Plus, the pad is definitely waaaaaaaay too far up and if you surf that far up on the board, it looks like you need to put more wax towards the nose to cover any change in stance you have. Of course this will have to do with how tall you are and how wide your stance is as a result, not saying you need to get all Adriano crab-style or anything--but wider stance=bent knees=lower center of gravity=more stability=more control.

You're not going to find many Ron Jon fans here....

If you can reapply the pad further back go for it.

You would be surprised how far up your front foot will end up on the board (especially in the barrel)...watch surf videos and pay attention to how guys constantly move their feet up and down the board.

The Ron Jon should be self explanatory.....ok class over.

All of which reveals the total pointlessness of a trac pad, other than to bolster the dealer's $$ bottom line.

take that pad off asap- as mentioned earlier- the glue takes 24 hrs to adhere- but will continue to cure over time. heat is the best way to take it off- but could also ruin the glass. a knife and some goo gone (not acetone) will help. if you cannot get time today/now to take it off- put the board in the sun for the day- to keep the pad warm- and the glue warm. put a new pad on - like erock said- 3 or more piece and spread it out. all the way back - the little "V" cut into the back of the pad is for the leash plug- so you want it as close to the leash plug as possible on that board. I would do it now- before your sorry. take a pad off a board is a pain... do it before the glue gets to hard.

everyone on here is saying the same thing... from experience...its best to heed and listen.

Definitely take the pad off, you'll never be able to turn that thing with your back foot that far up. If the pad gets ruined don't worry about it and just use wax instead until you can grab another pad. Watch videos of Mason Ho, the dude rips and doesn't use a pad on any of his boards, you don't need it.

use contact cement to reapply the pad, the existing glue will not suffice.

When (if) you get your traction pad off, make sure to sniff the glue.
