You have to get rid of every bit of wax and *wax residue* off the board. Otherwise it sticks to the residue, then the residue comes off and so does the pad.
I got the Neo Pad . Its not made of foam , its made of like rubber kinda super grippy and has a nice arch in the middle

Herbie fletch has the Astro deck pads I never really got into them . I dont try to ride a longboard like a shortboard. its kinda like a fat chick walking the tight rope in the circus . If she can do it fine but it just dont look right
Freak! Deffanatly my favorite pads. I have them on all my boards Super grippy and nice and thin. Pluss its like there welded onto the board iv never had one even come close to comming loose.
yah iv had at least 6 gorillas, never a one came loose. did you wait 48 hours after applying, like the instructions said...?
Over the past 8 years, I have only used OAM and Creatures of Leasure Pads... All of which have never failed. On a few older boards, the corners by the fin boxes started to come off, but just little fragments, the integrety of the pads are intact... I have a gorilla grip on my new fish that I got for Christmas. Probably taken it out about 20-25 times since then in all kinds of conditions and the track pad is solid as a rock.... Maybe its just a faulty pad... I was in a shop looking at a few pads last week cause they were in the clearance bin. The guy basically told me that with all of his traction pads, regardless of brand, he smears super glue all over the adhesive side before he puts it on. So then its already the crazy adhesive and the superglue combo. He said that he has had too many pad failures over the years, so the extra glue combo is a must for him... (** Not suer why he shared this with me because I told him I was not on the market for a traction pad, because that would have to mean I have a new board without one... =( Which I don't) It will ruin the deck under the pad, but so will any pad you put on. So maybe pull that bi*** off, grab a new one and glue the hell out of it.... I have only had one faulty pad over the years, and it was user error. I waxed up a board the day i got it, without a pad, then tried to remove the wax and put one on. Thought I got it all, but it peeled off in a week or so... As far as longboard and track pads, I would never think to use them. The reasoning behind my usage of the track pad is all shortboard technique related... You dont stomp on the fin boxes of longboads, and there is a slightly larger sweet spot so you really dont need to hang your heel right on the tail of the board.... Its usually up a bit for me on a long board... But maybe som LBers like it. I personally don't know any long boarders that have a track pad, and I know quite a few longboarders.

I recently came into a fascination with lbing through watching joel tudor clips and I know some of the older dudes around here use traction pads. Much like you, i didn't really see the point of it since it's meant for stomping, but was kinda curious. I'm really excited to try my walden out soon since I taught myself on a shortboard, and I've never had the longboarding experience.
