Looking for info on the best travel bags and what to look for. Trying to fit in just a single 6'10 and want to hear on what others have used. All info is appreciated.
I actually just ordered a 7' Komunity Project wheeled bag- they look sick, it's Slaters new accessory company run under the guidance of Quiksilver. Komunityproject.com .But anyways, to accomodate 1 6'10 board, you probably only need a 7' bag. A 7' bag is actually a couple inches bigger than 7', it's meant to fit a 7' bag with a few inches on either side. It would depend on how much you'll be traveling to how nice of a bag you get- for a couple years i would just stuff one board into a day bag and really pack the hell out of it, which you can totally get away with doing but once your'e traveling with more than one stick it gets pretty complicated. I would suggest a 7' travel or day bag, depending on budget (if day bag, use foam piping around the rails, bubble wrap, saran wrap the whole thing for a tight fit, use wetsuits/clothing, etc...) that you can find at probably most local shops.
I've flown with one board in one of these "Fat" daybags with a wetsuit and a couple of towels wrapped around the board, never had a prob the board is actually very well proteected. For $60 its cheap, light and then you have a day bag when you get to where your going. http://shop.1asecure.com/prod.cfm?ProdID=232568&StID=4778
