well im sure mostof you guys know im going on a trip this feb from all the posts but i have a question about bringing boards..... well, do you think that mt tuflite board would be fine bubble wrapped in a boardbag? and someone told me that i could put a bodyboard in cardboard and tape it to the boardbag and say its extra protection has anyone ever tried any of this.
with a surftech you do not even need the bubble wrap if you have a decent board bag...i just put then in the bag and never had any problems (I travel at least once a year) good luck
thats pretty much what i did, i wrapped my body board in a blanket and bungeed it to my bag after it was all packed up. fold your wetsuit up and make a good soft base on the bottom. and i wrapped my hood and gloves and boots around the nose and they still busted it up. bascially just stuff as much soft stuff around the board as you can and hope for the best.
well im goin to costa or mexico so no suit needed ....... but did they say anything about the bodyboard?
Last times I traveled with my board I put it right in a Dakine Travle bag . I never had and issue . The only thing I did since It was my Cooperfish with a glassed in fin is put it in a board sock then in the travel bag . Still everything was good when I unpacked it
ok, thats good to know, but you have like 120 posts and you joined in october?! ha, in 1 year i had 100, you must love this forum. you gonna have like a thousand in a couple years.... break a record!
Nah I just work nights. LOL If you need a travel bag Surfers Surplus has them I was looking at a 9'6 Ocean Earth Travel bag and it was 76 dollars . I dont know if you were wanting to upgrade to travel bag or not but its worth a look www.surfersurplus.com
don't listen to this guy...my tuflite got f*cked up by the bastards at American Airlines while wrapped in bubble wrap and a towel. I had 2 boards with broken noses and bad dings on the rails towards the bottom , try to avoid any connect flights and fly direct. Luckily i had a direct flight on the way to the virgin islands and they arrived safely, on the way back i had a connect flight in Miami and I'm pretty sure that's how they got banged up.
damn, that sucks..... So i guss i will get a travel bag and still bubble wrap it, and both flights will have 1 stop... i really hope my board(s) will be okay, i do not want 2 weeks of no surf with awesome waves
99% chance that its goin to be mexicana, they charge 60$ each way, thats pretty cheap too, other flights are like 125
well, your boards can never be too protected. Have you guys looked into AirBag. They say the bags are indestructible. They were advertising on Swellinfo a couple months back.
has anyone ever tried one of these? they look good to me but ive learned never to believe people advertising for their own product
A guy I know just went on a trip, not sure where, and he used one. No problems at all and they look real cool, might pick one up myself.
i was actually looking at the bag, but its too big and pretty expensive. Its like 150$ and 6'6 the smallest size. i ride a 5'9's and one 6'0.
