Hey everyone, I posted a while ago that I was going to Costa Rica for a little over a week a while ago.. thanks the advice that you guys posted. I just got back a few days ago, and the trip was great! I went south to the Punta banco/Pavones area. I got reallylucky for the season and scored chest high or bigger 9 of the 11 days with it being big enough to surf pavones 4of the days. I only surfed there once however because Punta banco area had more to offer and was cleaner with the tide/wind. Renting an ATV for the area is very beneficial and cheap but not needed if you don't mind a walk. There's plenty of good quality boards to rent or buy in the area so unless you have a magic stick or are extremely picky you can find a board or two that will work for you. For the price of flying them down. The area is super safe and fairly cheap. Although a little harder to get too than the more common spots in Costa Rica. I booked it all through surftrips.com and Colin was very helpful. Also if your down there and a rodeo is going on durring the weekend in a town called conte.. YOU NEED TO GO! IT WAS CRAZY. Only a small downside to this area depending on what you want is there isn't much of a "night life". I was okay without this though.
Glad you had a good trip dude. CR is a great place with cool people. Everyone should check it out at least once. Did you get to see these guys?
Also a really good area if your an intermediate surfer who can benefit from less crowded lineups to improve on aspects of your surfing.
No I didn't get to see those birds but I had those small monkeys near where I stayed and I got to see so weird pig thing that is supposed to be very rare.
Did you catch one of these? Yeah thats me with my bulging back muscles bringing in a monster sail. Love Costa!
The only thing I caught in Costa was a case of crabs. But damn. It was worth it. Wait - I got some waves too.
