While the EPAC is rifling through named storms like alphabet soup we are approaching our first. TD1 is announced now and has a decent little track right up the EC but is it too far offshore and too weak? At the last we should get a bump. I'm willing to drive for this one.

We had a little bump from it yesterday. Went from flat to 2-3 foot. Nothing larger. There was some excitement in the lineup since we all had heard it was flat. And it wasn't. Some nice rides for longboards and a few for short boarders until the wind set in and it got pretty choppy-- but still rideable. Def glad I took a day off work. Was totally worth it:)

Had camp this morning. Went from knee high to chest high in 2 hours. Squally weather had to be in the right place at right time. Wind howling 15-20 mph NNW with gusts up to 30mph. Looks like tomorrow AM may get some waist high clean. Just another day. Be safe

This is setting up for a prototypical hurricane swell for Virginia Beach. We'll get no front running south swell, because we're blocked by NC. Hurricane glances of Hatteras and we get onshore winds gusting to 50mph. Then as it passes by, the wind turns NW at 50mph, quickly knocking down any windswell that had formed. We'll have a two hour window to catch chest-shoulder high waves with a stiff breeze on our backs.
