While the EPAC is rifling through named storms like alphabet soup we are approaching our first. TD1 is announced now and has a decent little track right up the EC but is it too far offshore and too weak? At the last we should get a bump. I'm willing to drive for this one. FLY A BANNER FOR TROPICAL LOWS BRINGING STOKE TO YOUR BREAK
I'm gonna fly a banner for hype yo. F~ckin hype it, yeah, ooooh, get it in there. I want to see at least 2 more threads hyping this mega swell by the time I get home from work. Nostradamus got nothin on Micah.
We had a little bump from it yesterday. Went from flat to 2-3 foot. Nothing larger. There was some excitement in the lineup since we all had heard it was flat. And it wasn't. Some nice rides for longboards and a few for short boarders until the wind set in and it got pretty choppy-- but still rideable. Def glad I took a day off work. Was totally worth it
As it moves north, I will be moving south to Cocoa for a wedding. Fingers crossed for ya, have fun guys!
amen to that...theres a been a bump hanging around cb ever since sunday. caught it real fun yesterday for like 5 hrs. the dawn patrol on friday is gonna be memorable to say the least!
Someone else's take on it. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/06/30/bastardi-potential-nightmare-a-tropical-cyclone-coming-at-the-outer-banks-on-the-july-4-weekend/
Had camp this morning. Went from knee high to chest high in 2 hours. Squally weather had to be in the right place at right time. Wind howling 15-20 mph NNW with gusts up to 30mph. Looks like tomorrow AM may get some waist high clean. Just another day. Be safe
yeahhh we have had a few days of swell here in southeastern nc. I'm stoked about friday morning! offshore winds woot woot!
This is setting up for a prototypical hurricane swell for Virginia Beach. We'll get no front running south swell, because we're blocked by NC. Hurricane glances of Hatteras and we get onshore winds gusting to 50mph. Then as it passes by, the wind turns NW at 50mph, quickly knocking down any windswell that had formed. We'll have a two hour window to catch chest-shoulder high waves with a stiff breeze on our backs.
whoa. soon as you posted went out and bought extra water/gas/dogfood. every time i pick up the newspaper i still read about sandy this / sandy that.
