Anyone know why water temp would be down to 58-60 last few days after cracking 65 last week? I thought upwelling was short-term. These temps have been the last 5 days or so. Still trunked it with 2mm top for 2 hours last night easy because of the warm air but can't wait for 70F water. Any of this have anything to do with these fronts? When Arty arrives tonight will that bring Gulf Stream water?

I was up earlier than I had been in a long time for this one. It was a memorable Independence Day.

It was really good, surfed OCMD from about 3pm-7:30pm.
Easily head high, caught an s-load of great rides.

All in all, hell of a 4th!

Long Beach,NY was about 3 - 3.5 clean, offshore winds... then around 5:30 or so it got slammed. Overhead to a few feet overhead waves were coming in like corduroy. Long period swell with the low tide, it jacked up.

I saw that can of long beach last night, it looked like it was just rifleing.

Paddled out again this morning, wind weren't as bad as they were originally forecasted thankfully. It was enough to stand the wave up a bit more, got some really really long great rides. Just a few of us regulars then after about an hour and a half the wind got a bit more west in it and the crowd came. It got some bump to it and the drift kept the summer pros away. Had a blast these past two days. Got so many waves, quality waves. I needed that. Happy as a god damn pig in doodie

Fun weekend overall, even though I was a little late to the party, I still managed to get some really fun waves this weekend. Friday was about waist high (occasionally a tad larger), glassy, off-shores, and punchy. Each day it got a little bit smaller but still punchy and ride-able. I was even able to squeak out some fun rides yesterday morning before heading back home.

It's all about knowing which spot works on what tide, even when the forecast was 1.5ft @ 8 seconds this one spot was still 2-3 if you waited long enough and lined it up just right and hit it on or around low tide. Patience was the key, many people stood by the parking lot wondering if it's worth going out. I went out no matter what because what else was I going to do, go back to my room and sleep? Nah, get in the water at the right tide and good things will happen....

I'm late to this party, but the waves were awesome down in Jax beach. Wednesday night the swell peaked in size, it was slighly overhead with a light northeast breeze on it. A little texture, but super fun and some great long waves. Near sunset the wind turned offshore from the northwest and cleaned it up a bit. Thursday morning the swell cleaned up alot although it dropped in size a tad. The surf was waist to chest high plus and super clean. Even managed to find my way in a couple mini barrels. Thank you Arthur for some fun surf. Glad to see the boys and girls of SI got some too.

Looks like we got the runt of the Arty litter up in NE. No complaints though. Surfed the local break with some bros on Thursday night in mad mushy chop that I still got takeoffs on for two hours. Friday was waiting for the swell to arrive and watching it just rain on July 4 but no bad storm.

Saturday got real clear early and hit the break for mid to low tide with an SI brah and it was good shape and decent size but heavy offshores screwing with the swell. Got a handful of rides in a couple hours of sick weather. Then we hit a nearby break that is great at low but was victim to crosswinds.

Could've been an amazing day with better winds but no complaints at all. Got to charge waves for hours in perfect weather with good brahs then had epic nights and lit fireworks off on the beach. Freedom.

Yes bro. Glad you scored. You surfed way better than anyone who wasn't at the break this weekend.

Good bump hitting Southern NE midweek. South swells are the key to summah sanity.

Just trunk it bro. Flex the pecs for the wahines as you drop in.
