"This is Chicky Damain aka DaBuh!"

I love this guy. He does tend to overhype, but being born and raised in sunny Florida, I am also an eternal optimist when it comes to waves.

We are in a similar pattern as in (I forget the year - I think 1996ish) when Chuck Muir (the millionaire who owned Charlie's Crab on Palm Beach) got lost en route from the Bahamas to Florida via sailboat, when in early March, a front with a trailing low came across the Gulf and blew him away, out into the Bermuda Triangle....who knows...I guess he thought he was above the laws of nature...you could see it coming for days...but he had to go back to Florida in a hurry for some damn reason.

Betty, I'm glad you can see it too! Spring this year is going to be epic in this neck of the woods...I can feel it.

Yep....hopefully it will be just as good as winter has been...overhead every 7 to 10 days since Sept., gotta love it. We have had all the luck this year. @Betty....where have you been haven't seen you in a while hope your feeling well, I know the water has been a little chilly for you......its starting to warm up again.

Was thinking the same about you! ..... We have been out there every single weekend except one when it was just so dang cold and windy. Most weekends both days except last weekend when Saturday was looking bad. My legs have been terrible, so mainly been surfing on my stomach the past few months, with an occasional pop up for old times sake :) ... We have mainly been by the jetty rather than further down -- seems like a better paddle out and longer rides. ... And the waves have been so big, so mostly been taking reformed waves on those big days. See you out there :)

Haven't heard about this yet. It's been a slow winter here in the Gulf. Just can't drag myself away from the warm fort, neighbor lady, and icky sticky, for wimpy surf in the cold.

    Spring is almost here.

I am ready for this. Been talking to an oldtimer that told me back in 64 before Carla Galveston used to get headhigh waves. Maybe they will come back this year. Paulie you got a friendly neighbor lady huh? That sounds nice.
Thanks for the good news Betty, ill be getting ready!

64?!? LOL You ARE kiddin, right? Well... I've only been here a few years, but it's been HH a few times each year, OH a couple times. Of course, the OH times were sideways wind gnar kinda scary stuff. We kinda had some bigguns during IKE, before the whole island was submerged, but I hadn't moved here yet. I've learned to be quite happy with waist to chest, especially if it's clean. I'm a wiry little effer and can tuck right into a 2-3ft barrell very nicely.

Neighbor lady and I amuse each other. She's a little crazy, but that's cool. I ain't quite right either. She's all good in my book. Galveston almost shuts down completely in winter. The few of us still here kinda stick together. Plus, I always get to find Chore Boy pieces, Galveston glitter, around my house. They really sparkle when the sun hits em just right.
