Well... The storm in the western Gulf is headin straight here. Maybe Cindy later. The forecasts keep changin, but now we're up to 4"+ rain tomorrow. Offshores from 20 - 40mph. Surf up to chest. You can kinda see somethin cookin out there now. It's only waist now, but more spacing betwixt the swells. It's up to 7 sec now. Sideshore winds left to right as you look out to sea. So, the rights are startin to barrell. Could be pretty fun in the mornin. Prolly go bodysurfin later. Just got off work, til Friday. Yeeew!

    Thanks, Betty.

It will be interesting to see where it exits-- SC? NC? NJ? VA? Barry's beach?

Hey! She grew up while I was out bodysurfin! TS now. Looks like we're hopefully gonna be on the west side, so offshores in the mornin. It's still slowly buildin out there. Waist for sure, maybe some infrequent chest way outside. I was in close where the sandbar works the best. Lotta energy for 3 foot shorepound. No size like metard's pic, yet? Hopin we get some real stuff tomorrow am. Dawn patrol fer sure.

    You rock, Betty.

And, yeah, Cindy goes way up yonder to Barry's house next.

    Hey y'all.

On the scene photo report. All I got is my cheapy smart phone, so I ain't gonna be Nat Geo quality here. It's gettin big out there, head high sets. BUT, it's still blowin sideways. L to R lookin at the surf. Couple of guys went out at the pier (25th St) and blew down past the groin at 27th St in couple of minutes.

I'm off for 2 days, so I ain't rushin it. Hopefully the winds will go offshore in a little while. Last time I rushed into somethin like this, I: A) shotted the pier while paddling due to strong currents and: B) broke my chest bone after getting munched. I'll wait a few.

    Let's see if this works...

Well, we have a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico…..kind of. Okay, let’s be clear here, even the NHC admits that Tropical Storm Cindy is missing some key factors for being called a tropical storm. For example, the strongest winds are not located near the center, nor any of the convection. Plus there’s a 700 MB upper level low over the top of the storm, with dry air. Oh yeah, and there is barely a warm core structure that was found from the surface to around 850 MB. Okay, let’s just say it, this has never and was never a tropical storm. How the NHC even named this Tropical Storm Cindy is beyond my understanding, but here we are. So we are three storms into the Tropical Atlantic Season that in previous years would never have been named either due to a lack of technology or older standards. My concern here is that we are deluding the term of what a warm core, tropical low pressure system is and the damage it can do. This leads to confusion for the public and a whole host of problems when we actually have a tropical low pressure system to forecast for. Cindy is at best a Sub-Tropical storm, and that’s really pushing that term but it falls in the definition because of the slight warm core structure at the surface, but this is in no way a pure tropical storm and the NHC should at least admit that.

Would Tropical Depression be the correct term then?

My butthole still puckers sometimes when I grab holda that hard ass epoxy board.

    And to Mr Stinky...

The only tropical depression around here is you.

We usually have surf so flat under that pier that dudes can fish standin up in a boat and not even hold on.

    Sorry it ain't Waimea, dude.

    Geez
