Here is some interesting info from flhurricane.com " The wave east of the Caribbean probably won't develop soon, but if it manages to mostly survive through the Caribbean, conditions may be better for development in the West Carib/Gulf by then. So there is something to watch there for next week maybe. For next year in 2016, there are some early signs it'll be a 180 from the last several years, and possibly be a very active hurricane season. If Meteorologists can't get the rain forecast right for this afternoon, why would we adhere to anything they say about the distant future?
I don't ever remember a year with such a low number of tropical areas in the Atlantic i think the count is 0?
Not much can action... Should have seen more by now- but it's not too late!!! Thanks Betty! I feel like they always say 'next year will be more active' ....
It seems that Frankie agrees with this assesment: Category Five or greater? That's like turning the volume knob to eleven! He says it might destroy everything! Ho Lee Fuk!!! EVERYTHING!!! I already have my canoe ready but is it too early to charge my cell phone and start hoarding chinese food and pizza?
Yesterday was epic weather here!we got TEN INCHES of rain in about six hours, funnel clouds. Sadly, it prevented me from picking up the fin for my new board....Barry sez maybe I should just kill myself. Sounds kind of extreme.....
La Nina. I suspect following el nino that it could be active. I was reading about how there is this cold blob in upper Atlantic that could slow the tropics roll this season too. It's always a crap shoot. Seems like the tropics (and weather in general) is always having a surprising outcome one way or the other.
The 2016 Atlantic hurricane season forecast released Thursday from Colorado State University calls for the number of named storms and hurricanes to be near historical averages. A total of 12 named storms, five hurricanes and two major hurricane are expected this season, according to the forecast prepared by CSU, which is headed by Dr. Phil Klotzbach in consultation with long-time hurricane expert Dr. William Gray.
