Trade war bailout: Trump administration plans to offer $12 billion in emergency aid for farmers hurt by tariffs https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/24/tru...in-aid-to-farmers-hurt-by-tariffs-report.html A self-inflicted government bailout in his first term, MAGA baby! Solyndra cost the taxpayer $535 million just for a point of reference. Trump outdoing Obama in everything, including subsidies....
Whatever helps you sleep at night. Bottom line is he is using tax payer dollars to appease his voting base, same game as Barry. Those farmers gonna pay back that $12 billion?
Those same farmers, most of them would gladly hire migrant farm workers, and pay them lots less than documented Mericans.
Tell you what, if it doesn't work out in the end you can come back and say I told you so, till then, let's keep a positive attitude and see what happens, let the results speak for them self, but you have to have some patience to see it through, fair enough?
No arguing that. The point was more government waste to appease voters. To circle back to our previous convo, THIS is why our tax system will remain so convoluted, politicians have become addicted to spending OUR money to appease those of us that agree with them.
No doubt... I do think DP made a good point that leaping to consumption tax could prove to be very disruptive. Tax system touches all corners of our economy.
Fair enough DP, not like arguing on here would change anything anyway. I hope it works out. Shit, I hope trump goes down in history as the greatest most prosperous president ever b/c that's good for everybody. It feels like we are headed into uncharted waters with the whole protectionism/tarrifs thing and that makes me hella nervous. I'm just not in a position to bear much "pain" right now.
Correct, but if you're going to subsidize, then it should be for emerging technologies with the potential for big payoffs in the future, not for old line energy tech that is already highly profitable, and fading.
