I gotta say if it’s because people are reporting posts they don’t like, that’s F’d up.

 

I got it for saying T+A I think ... but I also wonder if it was the post itself. I got two warning in the span of 20 minutes way back, when the language ban began being enforced - for previous posts. Then a 10 day solitary for a post about the Kavanaugh confirmations discussion.
I really hope heapsy is wrong and it’s truly just about profanity and not about content of posts (that aren’t threatening or anything). That would bite. this is one of the few sites that seems to have a decent back and forth of ideas and positions.

I'm surprised that you are not aware of this. We are way down in the rankings of the world's safest countries with all the European countries ahead of us. For life expectancy, again, all of Europe is ahead of us. Better healthcare, better education throughout Europe, all the data is there, take a look. If you're wealthy, then America friggn rocks across the board, but if you're poor or middle class, then you increasingly have to learn to live with limited options for healthcare and education among other public goods that Europeans take for granted.

That said, I love my country, warts and all, but don't fool yourself that we have it all figured out.

Fairly made point Siggy, but where is that “data” coming from because unless it’s a handout controlled by their respective govts - their lives are pretty well controlled and dependent on the system. Better health care? How about cheaper or free - but not free, isn’t better at all. Anything that controlled by govt is never what it seems on paper. And something as arbitrary as “quality of life” is a parameter made up to fool people into believing what’s not there, in my opinion. The quality of life in Europe is based largely on the same scale you gave the US - if you have money it’s a blast but if you don’t it blows... I guess being over there outside of the social aspects and in the reality of things showed me a side you may not see or realize so. So who gets to determine what “quality living” is? You get what I’m laying down.
And worlds safest countries? That’s what I’m talking about - when’s the last time we had dozens of mass terrorist attacks in our major cities? When’s the last time we had massive riots(other than the insane lefties) that burned towns? When’s the last time we ever had a police No Go zone? When’s the last gang rape in the middle of a street? They have way less gun crime on paper because their half out size country wise and most of their people have been disarmed and guns aren’t alllowed.
