When Bernie Sanders supporter James Hodgkinson opened fire on the Republicans he targeted and nearly killed Representative Steve Scalise, I don’t recall much Times or other speculation about whether he could have been set him off by Democrats urging their supporters to get aggressive — “get in their face”; “if they bring a knife, we bring a gun” — when dealing with political adversaries.

 

Moral high, wtf are you talking about? You make less and less sense the more you opine. Yes, hysteria is how I would describe it. As I said before, the same fear based hysteria behind the Iraq war and Obama taking away guns. How did those turn out when they were such "imminent" threats at the time? This is just the same, blaming and fearing the poor and immigrants has been a political tactic since before any of us were around.

I am talking numbers. If unemployment is so low and entitlements are going away then why do we need to waste a bunch of money fixing something that isn't a problem. Just enforce the laws in place (which are not that ridiculous list you offered). No need to build a new wall at our expense for something that has little net negative effect on our economy. Just actually enforce the laws on the books.

The Soviets were unable to harm America directly. That was accomplished by thousands of young American males who escaped the draft by fleeing to Canada during the Vietnam war. Once they were allowed to return, they entered the media, education, and politics to rewrite history, making themselves heroes, and not the cowards they were.

The real damage of their pacifists/socialists views was in the universities. There they taught our young people to disrespect America's past. After several generations, about half of the people now believe us to be the bad guys, not the Russians or Chinese.

In a cold war the Soviets could not win, a group of hippies was more successful in bringing damage to the country by turning the people against themselves. China has taken note and is standing by for what they see as the eventual downfall of the United States – by internal-implosion.

I'm not saying there aren't violent illegal immigrants. But thats not the real problem with them. That is a product of fear mongoring.

Your rationalization is flawed. One murder is one too many, if you can prevent it from happening, you should. All of the examples you list are of people who are here legally and would be near impossible to prevent because they are allowed to be here.

Illegal immigrants are not allowed to be here so if we do a better job of keeping them from getting here in the first place than those murders don’t happen.

Again, if we can prevent a murder from happening, we should. Even if it’s just one less murder. Focus on the things we can control.

We as a Country have the ability to control illegal immigration with proper defense and proper enforcement of the laws.

You can’t control what a cop does or what a priest does. But we can control whether people cross the the border illegally.

 

No one is arguing in favor of illegal immigration and ever has. The argument is that immigration isn't destroying this county like Trump says it is.

So yes, you are right, we need to make sure we do not allow an overflow of illegals, no one has ever argued against that point DP. But I still stand by my opinion that the issues with immigration are hyper inflated and sensationalized to fit a political agenda. Much like the issues with Trump are over focused to fit another political agenda. Two sides of the same coin.

Another example is the Iraq War. We could have controlled sending our boys over there to die for nothing. But instead, we succumbed as a society to the fear mongering of any muslim country to attack. How do you explain that to a father of a soldier? What part of the US or our freedom were they defending? Nothing, we took shotty info and turned it into a war drum because of the over stated fears being exacerbated in this country. Fear mongering makes us do terrible things as a society.
