Trump says Kim not responsible for Otto Warmbier's death: 'I will take him at his word' https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...ponsible-for-otto-warmbiers-death-i-will-take Kim Jong Un, a true patriot! You guys would be destroying Obama for a quote like this.
Dude is in the middle of negotiations to get them to denuclearize. What’s he’s supposed to say? That he knows he knew about it and was involved? Negotiations will stop and rockets will be launched and all bets will be off if he goes there at this stage of the negotiation.
Think about it like this...Trump wants to get to a certain point with North Korea, something constructive in the denuke realm. I think he is just saying what he thinks little rocket man wants to hear. It is all superlatives, compliments, and great relationships. This is because he wants open dialogue with LRM. He may say he believes LRM on all kinds of issues but his action was an abrupt walk away from the table and the sanctions are still in place. It’s like you telling a chick she is pretty so you can get to second base...
I don't remember Reagan praising and trusting the USSR. That is two American deaths without any consequence because we want to buddy up to countries like Saudi Arabia and North Korea while we damage our relationships with Europe as much as possible. Not what I would call great foreign relations.
Weren’t you a kid then? What do you think we should have done to the Saudi’s over that episode? Please enlighten me on what exactly would have been appropriate. You are missing it on the “buddy up” theory IMO. Again, the “LRM is my buddy” shtick...at least from my perspective is his way of getting and keeping LRM engaged. You just hate Trump so you can’t see it for what it is...I’m sure they will be setting up Tee Times before we know it lol.
I wasn't even alive yet, does that make my statement incorrect? We stop selling weapons to the Saudi's. You could start there. I get the buddy up theory, just think any moron can see thru that and it makes Trump look weak. That is how you fool a 17 year old girl, not a murderous dictator. So if he walks away from the negotiation with no deal after praising Kim, you'll spin that into a win how exactly? You just like Trump and can't see it for what it is.
At Hanoi summit, China’s Xi saw a president willing to walk away: Gordon Chang https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ch...-a-president-willing-to-walk-away-expert-says
He didn’t lose and the sanctions are still in place. Reagan didn’t write the art of the deal (meaning they have different tact). He is trying to avoid the murderous dictator from starting a nuclear war. So we stop selling Saudis weapons? How does that solve anything? Does that somehow punish them for the journalist’s death? I don’t get that.
Remind me to never hire you to handle my negotiations lol It’s a dance, and when he gets further than any of his predecessors you’ll see why he said and did what he did at both summits. Nobody will care about this once an agreement is made and executed.
I’m sure they’ll understand, if not oh well. The end result is no NOKO nukes. Hard to hate on that. It’s worth hurting their feelings to get LRM to disarm.
I actually kinda felt bad for DJT. I think he fully thought he was going to come out of this trip with a deal signed... it would make sense for Un to see what is possible (a rich economy) and want to get on board.. I bet DJT thought it was a lock and was really disappointed.
Reagan and Trump are different but can you tell me an instance where kissing up and appeasing a dictator have worked in history? Wasn't that the tact Obama tried taking with Iran and it failed miserably. You give up all leverage if you think kissing up to these guys works. Kim is just going to turn around and blast his country with propaganda about how he had Trump praising him and the nuclear program ain't going anywhere. Do you think the Saudi Family would be happy or mad to not be able to purchase US weapons? We aren't going to storm the palace and kill the crown prince. This is how nations punish each other, just as we have done to other countries for doing bad things.
Handing over pallets of cash versus walking away and maintaining sanctions are two very different ways to kids up. The leverage is still in place. LRM can put out all the propaganda he wants while his country becomes anemic (physically and economically). You have Saudi perspective all wrong. We aren’t withholding sale of weapons b/c those sales are a tremendous benefit to US defense corporations (which is one of the primary reasons nothing was done about journalists death to begin with). But, if we did, it would be a major geopolitical move and Saudi’s would spend all that oil cash elsewhere...
Yeah signing a denuclearization pact (or even a non-aggression pact) would be a huge legacy for any political leader, especially Trump. We'd never hear the end of it...and rightfully so. Kim and his father have been playing a cat and mouse game for decades. Nobody really knows if they seriously want relations with the West, or if they are only playing as a means to stall for a true future purpose (whatever that purpose may be). Since Communist countries like China and Russia have progressed past their rigid and dogmatic policies, maybe it is possible that NPRK could become like Cuba and begin to shed their radical Socialist tendencies and allow a certain amount of Western decadence in order to find their place in the world community.
