I have a hard time with this idea that it's only a women's issue. I think the Father involved should have rights too, provided it was consensual sex. I realize the woman carries the baby inside of them, but once there is a heart beat, that's the Father's child too, if they are involved of course. If they aren't involved and want nothing to do with the woman or the child, THEN I feel it's a women's only issue. But let's say a guy hooks up with a girl and they sleep together and she ends up pregnant. The woman then doesn't want anything to do with the guy anymore and basically ignores him, meanwhile that guy wants to be a part of this child's life. Instead, she gets an abortion and kills his child. What if he would have gladly raised that child as a single father and then one day meet that child's step mother? Seems like a better option to me rather than giving the woman 100% control and letting her kill a child that could have had a long life and raised with love by their Father.
I personally don't really care (meaning I have an opinion, but it's not an issue that would sway my vote), but I do think it should ultimately be up to the women up to a certain point. Heartbeat isn't really enough time. Most women don't even realize they are pregnant when the heartbeat is detected. Rape and incest are no brainers... I also think the child's health should be a factor. I work a lot with severely disabled children and it takes a tremendous toll on families. Some children have 0 quality of life and their families spend ridiculous amount of $. It's sad, but parents should have a choice on whether they want to do that
+1 on the adoption option...totally agree. As for the man having a say (in or out of wedlock?)...now we are entering contract law lol
