Well, if you're penniless, mentally ill, and living on the streets, I mean, really, what options do you have today, except to remain penniless, mentally ill, and living on the streets?

Mental health services and support have been gutted in this great country of ours, and for good reason, they increased our taxes, and were socialist policies. So when a mentally ill homeless person poops on your front lawn, just get out your pooper scooper and thank him for your lower tax rate, and the fact that you don't live in a socialist country.

 

Well, now, you see, the mental health hospitals were all closed, not due to rich people not wanting to care for them, but because liberal jackasses had liberal legislators pass legislation under the ""cruelty" type of thinking--locking up schizophrenics is "cruel" they said. I was working for a pharmaceutical company at the time that had a big interest in the hospitals remaining open, but they closed (early 1980s)
Now, if you think we should do it the "socialist way", okay...let's do treat them as you suggest. And that would be, 1) lock them up in wards (many in straight jackets), 2) give them massive doses of Haldol , thorazine, or Zyprexa, 3) slowly and discreetly "euthanize" them because they are of no value to the socialist system - they are a burden for the commissars. 4) Bury them quietly in an unmarked grave.
Now failing that, have you a better solution?? You complain a lot about it. Why not do what you preach?? Invite them into YOUR home.....

I don't know where you live or where you've been, but I can tell you that wherever there are homeless, there are literally dozens and dozens of outreach programs, support services, food banks, rescue missions, and church groups geared specifically towards helping the homeless. It is more than a "cottage industry" too, as I'd estimate that somewhere between 5%-10% of our county's population is gainfully employed by one or more of these agencies.

And they certainly ain't doing it for free.

Face it dude, these people aren't on the street because they can't pay rent...And the sheer lunacy of your statements only show your blind ignorance and your dogmatic faith in your political beliefs. The fact is that all these support services and entitlement programs are actually magnets for the homeless. "What?", you say? Yeah. No local social services, no bums. Can you believe that? Kinda blows your theory out of the water, doesn't it.

Let's talk to 100 river hobos and find out exactly how many are willing to move off the riverbank and into subsidized affordable housing. Other cities will follow suit. DC, Arlington (VA) have gotten hard-ons for this stuff. Particularly the women policy makers. Fly the dyke flag, the war on America is heating up says they. The Dems have control over the cities in America. And this is how they will do it: ZONING. Our cities are already shiiiiitholes thanks totally 100% to the Dems. This will make even more shiiiitholes in the USA.

First, there are not nearly even remotely enough psychiatrists to manage all of them--it is not a specialty young medical students/residents aspire to.
Secondly, liberal laws consider it "cruel" to lock them up in wards. It is cruel; no doubt.
Third, and last--no one has come up with a better idea to get rid of them, except for,....the Nazis. Sorry, but all true.

The policy has been treat them as outpatients. They are given their major tranquilizers to get better (haloperidol, Zyprexa, etc). And they do get better. Once they stop hallucinating, they feel better and then think they can stop taking their meds. Then they crash. Every time they crash, their brain degenerates a bit further. Now they are worse. On and on....
First person to solve this human tragedy get the Nobel, that is for sure. Not that the Nobel is worth anything more than spit, considering who awards it.....
