The element of surprise makes it challenging “to stop” sometimes...

Gun laws will never stop all shootings, just some shootings, and that's good enough.

Side note, I was in Santa Cruz that morning, not so far from there. Sad and scary.

I dunno Man, Look what has happened in Australia with gun laws. I realize that this isn't Austrailia but It seems to work pretty well there. I don't care one way or another but the right to bear arms was cool when we had muskets, it gives us time to reevaluate during the reload phase. Not so much with an automatic weapon.

No doubt man, totally agree. The random shooter in a crowd is really hard to defend against. Concealed weapon permit holders are probably the best defense against these episodes but man, the randomness of it in a crowd is an easy way to creat havoc.

Mr. Biden is trying to make a virtue out of a tragic strategic blunder. The total withdrawal of U.S. troops in 2011 set the stage for the rise of Islamic State, and the takeover of Mosul and much of Iraq by the “caliphate.” By 2014 U.S. forces were fighting again in Iraq, and it took five years to defeat the caliphate after the premature Obama-Biden withdrawal.

Mr. Biden will run on his foreign-policy chops, but on Iraq he supported the war, then turned against it when the going got tough, then opposed the 2007 Bush surge that finally won the war, then supported a withdrawal that let the enemy regroup. That isn’t a record to boast about.
