Looks like a Jersey Super Bank. But seriously, most east coast breaks are pure shit (comparatively), however, every dog has their day.
I remember the Unsound Pro in LI a few years ago with the hurricane swell.

How old is your daughter? Started island hopping during my college days. If time and budget permits, I would suggest that, as opposed to locking her into one country.

Im think costa fits what your looking for.

But here's another option. Not really an option. Just an idea. You should totally do a legit trip since that's what your looking at. BUT when i was young and in school i did little trips with my pops (who doesn't surf). Your up north right? Explore the EC a bit. Id suggest OBX but FL is another option. Again, this idea isn't meant to replace a real trip. It's just a idea for a quick little strike mission to get some surf and spend time with your kid, experience a new area and ditch some rubber. Mini trip for before or after a legit trip

I was thinking the same. It’s like everybody was out of position or they pulled back.

What’s up with that mr Belmar?

if you need a difference in wave size and you go to pr in feb check out jobos and middles its an hour from rincon where you have marias, steps and a few other spots stay clear of tres palmas and rent a car ... you're not ready for wilderness or tres palmas,,, you will die!

I’ve been really looking at that option as well. A two or three day mini to the banks or even somewhere in RI or Jersey, Long Island. By the way I’m really liking all the various info and ideas. It’s exactly what I hoped for.

Hawaii. SS will be small (for your daughter) then you can ride or dodge death bombs on NS till your arms fall off. Otherwise definately Belmar.

12, that changes things a bit. Pretty much depends upon what kind of boys you want her flirting with, because that's what she'll be doing, when she thinks you aren't watching (testing out her prowessness, lol). Other than that, I suggest some place warm, because she will want a tan to show off to all of her friends back home, upon returning. Probably best to keep in mind that she may want to participate in a rather diverse range of activities, in addition to surfing, at that age.

Normal 12 year olds, I’d agree. She could give a rats ass about tanning although she likes to look pretty, and would rather go mountain biking, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, or hanging out with her Dad over most anything else, thank the dear Lord! For now anyway hahaha
I’m biased I know, but she’s truly a unique and amazing kid - got more of a hold on things at her age than I ever did and more than most of her peers.

And that saves me from having to be the boy boogey man... for now hehehehehhhhhhhh

For a first trip, I'd stay in the lower 48 (OBX,FLA, Cali) or do PR in Feb. That way, you eliminate stuff like passports, going through customs with weed crammed in your keister, third world BS, etc. There are surf schools in Rincon PR that would be great for your daughter. Crowds can get bad in PR in Feb. though. After you get your feet wet on a trip like that, you can plan bigger for your next trip. CR, Oh-Wah-Who, etc.

Yep. For the most part anyhoo... I’ve done well for time on the boart and what I am able to do on it, And once my feet are set, I can manage getting caught late, quick steep faces, chop, turns and setting and holding rails and managing speed on them, so far up to 8-10’. Problem with where I surf is anything of that size is usually really quick to get steep and break so it’s either getting skunked or popping up going down a face... doesn’t help to improve your surfing if your fifty/fifty trying to survive it rather than learning to surf it. Big, slow rollers that curl would be my happy place...your spot on

I like this idea. Plenty to do around the island outside of surf (culture etc), and Waikiki in August could produce consistent beginner type waves that will help her learn.

Jeez dude, you say you're a novice then you talk about surfing 8'-10' waves. I've been surfing 40 years, and paddling out to 8' surf has always been a big deal for me.

    10 foot? fuggedaboudit

Do not come to Florida, we never have waves and it is the shark bite capitol of the world. also drownings, lots of drownings and lightning lots of that too. also alligators and snakes and mosquitos. Steer clear of florida!
