I went to 1st street VB for the last time last night. Hundreds of people bobbing around in the water unable to get out past the first bar, people paddling laterally hundreds of feet to snake waves coming in from hundreds of yards away, takeoffs with people flanking you five feet to the left, right, and front, and outgoing tide mush past 4PM. I'm amazed I didn't take a longboard to the skull last night.
An LB. Not an SB. Interesting. I think we frequent the same different break(s). Maybe it's all just a game for some crazy puppet master and we are unknowingly training for American Gladiators. You know, the obstacle course where the smokeshow in Superwoman garb (who can bench 451) is shooting tennis balls at us at 114mph as she stands behind an acrylic barrier. That's what it feels like at least. Except these are boats being shot at us, not tenny balls. Maybe we mistakenly registered for this ongoing "tryout" at a Celtics game thinking we were entering the 50-50 raffle.
Got out twice yesterday at Dam Neck - 11AM and 6PM. These old muscles were achin' last night. Chest high and fun on the last day of July. There's an article on it in this morning's VA Pilot.
Good ol' Indialantic boardwalk. Surfed there, in and around RCs, and Spanish House the most when I lived down there. Hated surfing second light area. The boardwalk was just easy access, not the best wave, but closest spot for me. Some good Florida derelicts always hanging out on the stairs. Good pizza there too.
Hey Wombat, don't you have a mountain to scale or something? Aww man, I was just giving you the business, Wombat. Nothing personal. I'll retire any smart-arse rock climbing comments. Ok, it's done. God bless you, Wombat. Don't fall or anything.
Satellite is more of the area I was referring to, a bit more consistent IMO, although Indialantic can be very fun as well, they aren't that far from each other so just depends on how it's breaking that day, I'll take either spot on a decent swell. Good Pizza for sure though. Always gotta watch out for the bums on the boardwalk, they'll take your lunch money if you don't look grown enough to stop em.
old Dorian, now projected to move NNE, and possibly NE in the coming days, up the east coast. Might be a wave maker Sat/Sunday for southeaster east coast?
I love that area myself, when the good old Bahamas are blocking that south swell, I love to run up there. I do find myself up there more in the winter time though, you cant beat a northeast swell with a southwest wind, that makes me wanna put on a wet suit...lol
And pass that baton up here when you're done. Late Tues into Weds looks like we can put the partay sombreros on again.
