I'm scopin out some of the forecasts from Va north for the next few days. Holy FARK! Some o' y'all are fixin to get some major league swell. Wishin y'all lots of offshore goodness. Stay safe, check that leash knot, do proper sand recon, and post lots of pics. Good Luck! Yeah, I'm kinda jealous.
Dat Monmouth forecast tho, unfavorable winds. BOO! Cape May looks like it's gonna go off, maybe one of the 5 times per year that Poverty is rideable. Might have to make the trek down to Atlantic or Cape May County, Looks pretty sweet. I feel like I've been going down there every other day the last two weeks. Visiting family and friends have been coming coming and wanting to go to Wildwood or AC. I'll be very cranky if the glimmer glass floods out my block and I get no swell out of it!
There will be NO SURF due to Hermine. You see, I just got my new wetsuit, so youz guys are all shiit out of luck!! It will be flat until such time this suit disintegrates into carbon molecules.
if she stalls off the coast like they're saying, I guess we really are in for it. This sh!t never happens. Well, I'm not making any money this week.
been thinking the same exact thing actually, only difference is im far enough away from glimmer glass to get outta here without being underwater
Big old victory at sea conditions down here. Probably not gonna be even worth it tomorrow or Monday in nags head. I think Tuesday and Wednesday are gonna be the days. Too bad I probably will have to be working or on call for ocean rescue. Guarantee we have to rescue some dimbass touron at some point in the next couple days. Hatteras island is flooded with 4ft of water... Frisco or buxton might be epic in the next couple days. Still too much water moving around. Lots of wind and rain damage around. Really turned out to be a nasty little storm
I was just at the beach in nomoco jers.hard onshore winds, storms barely even here yet, choppy, victory at sea like conditions, not quite there yet but..there were a few souls out there,i didn't go out just went to check the scene and see how the beaches look. one good thing tho for us in nj is even tho this storm is not in our favor, its actually in our favor in the long run because these victory at sea days are going to create good sandbars up and down the coast, and when the wind turns its going to be long draining barrels.its setting us up for success,we havnt had a good swell recently to stir the sand around. also stopped off in lb,whats up archy, they pump the beach again this year?it was high tide I'm thinking the waters going to be touching the wall but theres a good 70yards of sand before u hit the water, thats no bueno
This high pressure sandwich reminds me of the summer of 95 looping storm off Bermuda. Hooping for 6 high tides in a half hour making the pier box work again sending the rest of the sand to shut down the inlet so I can walk across to sheltered break.
Sandy somehow spared my garage. I have the most oversized garage and a couple cool cars I keep in it, as well as a bike (Harley) and a dirt bike and some bicycles and junk. I might have had an inch of water in there at most. Mostly leaking through the back door. Nothing got through the bottom of the garage doors. Back in 2006 (4 years before I bought and moved into this house) a tree fell and damaged my neighbors roof. I remember driving by and seeing it at the time, because I hung around in the neighborhood. That was during that rinky dink Labor Day weekend Storm Ernesto. It brought good swell to the area though. Forecast still looks like trash for Monmouth. Have to make a trip down to Atlantic or Cape May County. Even LBI looked like a complete bust the last I checked.
Was that Hurricane Felix? That was one of my favorites swells of all time. I have some fond memories of the swell that storm produced. That was just incredible. I think the 1995 hurricane season remains my favorite, as far as surfing and fun swells go. I barely remember many particular swells from the 90's, that year still sticks out though. I wish I could relive them today, since I was fairly new to surfing and not as experienced at the time. I still had a blast that year. Living up in Bergen County and racing down the parkway on weeknights after work and going down on weekends. Fun times.
Just checked the cams on the OBX... Is it really DOH at the Cape? Anybody getting the goods? Frisco looks a bit smaller but cleaner?
Tuesday morning now--Hermine is headed directly WEST (!!!) at 8mph gaining strength. Its going to slam into New Jersey and New York!!! Sandy #2!!!
It was definitely DOH up here in town. It was weird. It was actually bigger up here than down there most of the time. Frisco was apparently okay the bigger day but yesterday morning was the goods. Extremely long lefts at about the 5-7ft range according to my friend. Damn I wish I didn't have work. At least I have today off! Time to put in all day in the water. Winds are finally west, buoy readings are still good, gonna be a good day!!
