80% chance of formation in the next 5 days. Hmmmm.... And it looks like three of the projected paths hit Cape May.... http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/storminfo/96L_tracks_latest.png
Saw it quoted. Pics or none of it is real. Perfect opportunity to shut down the haters. Just have to snap a few pics and share them. Seems pretty simple.
Bro I don't exist to appease the haters. You're not even white noise in the background to my symphony of life. The quiver is distributed around the house and in the basement. I may get to taking a pic or two soon but I'm not going to take the time to move a dozen boards around so a TC who puts me on ignore yet responds to more of my posts than anyone can STFU. I wouldn't want to deprive you of what's apparently one of the few things you have to get you through your day. I will get to the pics though at some point. Not to silence your purdy mouth but because there are a handful of guys who want to see what I've got and we all like quiver shots on here. As for the skate quiver, it's not 8 sticks - it's two Carvers that are serviceable, two Carver decks with trucks off, a trad deck with CX4, and a PP deck that's nearly too nice to ride (when I don't really need it) and better for viewing purposes. Bro, just so I know, do you want photos of my wetty, rashy, and baggie quivers too? Those are equally extensive. How about my boxer briefs? Weird bro! Sounds white vanish to me. You ok, bro?
Back to the regularly scheduled hype train. We've got a near TS splitting atoms and reproducing like Gremlins, which means that's a far more viable topic than instagramming one's earthly possessions.
I'm great. Just locked down a nice sale I've been working on for a month and have a few days off coming up. Couldn't be better. But lets talk about this coil some more. So your new coil is in the basement buried under your dozen or so other boards? Man. It seems awfully suspect to me. And you seem very interested in changing the topic. But hey man - its cool. Enjoy your pretend party and the pretend surf session you'll be having when you leave your pretend party on your pretend Coil. Its fun to pretend. Especially on the internet.
It's sad that us East Coasters have to follow a rainstorm for a week hoping it turns in to our 3rd named storm and the Pacific is on M already.
Emass, I too want to see this Coil of yours, because well, it's a sickness, I drool over other Coils I don't have. I like to think that someday I'll own one of each "model", I know that aint happening, but a Megamind is definitely in the cards.
It's pretty wide bro. I appreciate it for what it's worth (it's got many differentiating factors over other boards) but think for a SB I gotta have 19" to 20.5" tops for width. Take regular board dimensions of L x W x T and bring them to groveler numbers and anything outside of that scale proportionally seems off. Basically, for me to feel right on it if you add width you need to add length. I can certainly feel when a board is excessively wide for its length. Perhaps that'll change when I continue to progress, but my best rides are on 19-20.5" width. I may even catch more waves on those dimensions than anything wider also, and my drops are way smoother.
Keep at it and you'll click with it eventually i'm sure. It's definitely intended to be wide and thick but really short to give you the performance of a HPSB but the float of a groveler, so it's kind of in the same genre as a Mini Simmons or other grovelers / LB alternatives but I believe it's higher performance. Gaff will tell you that it requires a lot of rider feedback, probably more so than you may imagine. But once you get it dialed in, you'll be screaming down the line of some very marginal waves that most would think requires a log, but that board should fly and even get air borne if driven correctly. Time in the water with that bad boy is what is required. My Flashback Fish felt great from the very beginning but after almost a year and a half later i'm REALLY clicking with it now. I'm sure there is still plenty of untapped potential on this thing too. Sky is the limit! My advise would be to ride that thing in 1-4ft surf, maybe 5ft, i hear it gets a little squirly once you get into HH waves, as it's not really designed for that. The highly skilled can push it's limits i'm sure and have fun in OH waves with it though.
I know! I was gonna hold back until it's an official depression and then shout out, "Two for two!" but you guys are too observant for the Bettmeister my family is sick of me being right about so many things.
TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 200 PM EDT FRI AUG 22 2014 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: 1. Shower and thunderstorm activity has increased during the past few hours in association with a small area of low pressure located just north of the Mona Passage between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Satellite wind data and preliminary reports from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that the circulation associated with the low is poorly defined. Some additional development of this system is possible today, but environmental conditions are expected to be more conducive for the development of a tropical depression or tropical storm when the disturbance moves near or over the southeastern Bahamas on Saturday. Regardless of whether the system becomes a tropical cyclone, gusty winds and heavy rainfall are expected across Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands today, and over portions of Hispaniola and the southeastern and central Bahamas tonight and Saturday. Interests in the southeastern and central Bahamas should monitor the progress of this disturbance, as tropical storm watches or warnings could be required with short notice. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent. And this from flhurricane.com. These boys seem to know a bit, and less prone to exaggeration: "Recon seems to be finding the closest thing to a center in 96L in the Mona Passage between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Models have initialized northeast of there, but the general trend out to sea is starting to slow down. The Euro and GFS, arguably the two better models, still move it out to sea. However others are backing off that again (UKmet for example). With the system disorganized as it is, with land interaction, still a lot to watch out for. The time of year + the area it's in make it important to continue watching until a definite north/northeast movement starts. Right now it's heading due west, and quickly. "
Betty, my ankle is good to go, meet you out there Tue, Wed and the rest of the week. Sisurfdogg I'm really glad you're shoulder is feeling better, be careful down there.
The SI injury report is looking slim these days with clean bills of health all around. Gaff is the last one that is still healing well. Everyone's on the active roster just in time for peak tropical season.
