    Decisions

Should I target Wednesday night or Thursday Night for an after work session in NJ. I'm looking to at least get an hour in ( 6 30 to 7 30). It seems to be pitch black by 8 now which sucks (as does working sometimes)

Trying to figure out the same. Wed night looks intense. 17ish second periods. Not sure if that means close out city... I defer to more experienced storm surfers on that. Thursday seems more friendly.

nj forecasts suggest moco on wed then atco or camaco for thurs....nj swell-wise this might be a cross dresser.
which has nothing to do w/fran dresher.

We didn't get clean conditions. But there was size and a ton of consistency there this morning. The tide was right. Swell angle seemed to have some north in it, along with the wind. But it was solid head high on almost every set with some pluses. It was all peaks and ramps everywhere. Wind was wrong for any barrels. It was just punchy, super fun, drifty wedges. Only a hand full of guys out.

Not sure when the peak of this swell will technically be, but even with the crossed up winds, it was well worth it.

forecasts will change, but my guess is for Thursday. Seems like with each update swell peak is getting pushed out a bit. Hope for less N in the NW winds and no afternoon seabreeze shift

That's my plan anyway, except I took a half day for Thursday :)

Yeah, I am betting that the wind is almost dead tomorrow morning. Light offshores maybe. If you are in SC, better hit it in the early AM of the late evening to maximze the situation and get the tides right. Thursday will be a gem too. Offshores with clean. I just hope there is still energy left around. Last swell's cleanup day was really fun. Hoping for the same. Good luck.

You might even want to check it tonight if the wind gets off of it.

Haha, I forgot about that. School is back in. Man, crazy how early they send these kids back in the South.

    Sweet! Glad you scored too.

If all the outlets are saying it then it's a fact. We ain't talking questionable windswell here. I think the cane would have to blow due east or west for us not to get stoked.

15 second period…who here has a break that can handle this eh?

Gotta be at points and reefs I'd think...no BB's made for that on EC per all I've learned here and elsewhere. Even still, that's super long period for us even for points/reefs.

Is this true? I can't say I have seen too many swells on this coast anywhere near the 15 second range, but the beach breaks on the west coast can handle up to 22 second periods without a problem. Size is also a factor, as beach breaks max out a lot quicker out there than the points and reefs. But, a 6ft@18 second swell on the west coast is super fun beach break material. I mean, if you throw 12ft@22 seconds at the west coast, only a few spots (Blacks etc) can handle it, every beach break out there will max out and close out, but that is because of the overall wave size, rather than the period.

I would assume that a long period swell would be ideal no matter where it hits. 20 seconds is always better than 10 regardless of where it is, at least I thought. Maybe one of our resident surf scientists can break that down for us a little further. I know long periods are uncommon here, but I would think my local spot down here would be epic on a 18-20 second period.
