I used to say, " One good thing aboot New Jersey is that we are pretty much free of natural disasters, save some flooding here and there." We've had an earthquake, a derecho, a superstorm hurricane in late October, and now......... It has been confirmed that a tsunami hit the Barnegat Inlet area June 13, 2013.
Isn't there a giant piece of a volcano in the Canaries that's in the right position to send a significant tsunami to the NY area when the landslide occurs?
Yeah, nothing big. It knocked a couple of crackers off the jetty. But the trend of natural events occurring in Nueve Yersey is starting to concern high school seniors and volleyball enthusiasts across the state. I just saw it on the news at 4:00 when I posted, but you know how first reports go. Another source called the event, "Tsunami-like waves."
Yea that report of the "Meteo-Tsunami" is pretty crazy. The reports I read are comparing it to the one that damaged cars on the beach in Daytona a few years ago. I still don't really understand calling a surge that's weather-related a Tsunami, but they are: http://thesandpaper.villagesoup.com...re-s-a-way-to-help-the-lady-terrapins/1020216
Cumbre Viejo on La Palma. We have 8 hours after the side slides, which is enough if doesn't happen when we're sleeping. Most say that the mid Atlantic ridge is more likely to do damage.
Anyone get pictures. i rode a secret outer bombie in barnegat Nj. 26 miles off the coast, huge slab breaks over shallow aircraft carrier that went down years ago. pics coming soon
No, it is well known that the side could fall and cause some tsunami waves. Here is a full research paper on the subject: http://wet.kuleuven.be/wetenschapinbreedbeeld/lesmateriaal_geologie/wardday-lapalmatsunami.pdf What is conspiracy is that many sites claim that the collapse is extremely likely, and that the waves will be 300 ft high. Scientists only predict larger waves if it collapses in a specific way, but it is unknown whether this is likely to happen. The waves are not predicted to be 300 ft, but rather 10-25 m. Still big waves, but no where near the Armageddon size claimed by some sites. There have also been later studies that point to that specific volcano being less of a threat. However, there are still many serious threats out there: http://www.livescience.com/24813-east-coast-tsunamis.html I think the real issue, is that much of the east coast is completely unprepared for any tsunami like event. Look how the little storm surge from Sandy destroyed the northeast. Imagine what would happen if a 30ft wave rolled in. Even shredmachine couldn't tame that beast.
where's yer tin hat Mr. Conspirator? http://www.setyoufreenews.com/2012/...mega-tsunamis-wont-obliterate-u-s-east-coast/ Howz dat feel, chicken little?
Did you not read what I wrote: "There have also been later studies that point to that specific volcano being less of a threat."
You didn't read what I wrote, thus you didn't understand (as is the issue with most of our earlier conversations). I never said to fear this thing. I said there are studies that show it could happen, and that conspiracy sites blow it out of proportion. I also said later studies show it might not be an issue to worry about. I also stated that there are other environmental causes of tsunamis that could occur, and that the east coast is mostly unprepared for any events. Are you just looking for something to e-fight over? I not sure what the issue is. Maybe you need a hug?
I was just fuggin witchu. See how easy it is to find alternate info? Just had to throw in a tin hat/ conspiracy theorist line to show you how it feels.
