i was on oahu in diamond head when this happened. saw it on the news when it was happening in japan when we were watching in our room. i knew we would be getting the sirens pretty soon, and we did. they were moving some of the people on the lower floors upstairs when it hit. we were about 12 floors up. it was pretty scary when it was happening, but it didn't do much. everything that came up washed away within a few hours at least by us. i don't think it did much damage there. it was on my birthday too, so it was a pretty memorable 40th birthday i'll say that much.
