I love the fact that GOPRO has an affordable camera for videos in the water. But guys please stop taking video of being the tube. The tube is a sacred place for us waterman. Don't let everyone else see what we live for.
Also just please stop taking videos with the GOPRO.....well you can take them just keep them to yourselves.....I can't stand watching someone's legs and water swirling around.......Because there's more of that going around than seeing a view inside a big, gaping barrel. Also beginners, I know it's cool getting a video on youtube of you trying to surf...I understand how that gives you a charge but it is painful for the public. Please just use some discretion. Thank you for your attention.
I won't tell you what I think when I see someone with a GOPRO... or even just the mount... on their board. But I bet you can tell...
Sticking the cam on the nose of the board pointing right at the surfer has never made any sens me. Who wants to see a close up of you taken from the perspective of the board? To me it makes all turns look like the wave is twisting and bending around the surfer rather than being able to see a good cutback or hack, barrel, sky, spray, other surfers, beach, or any of the other countless aspects of a visually pleasing surf video.
I don't mind the view if it's facing away from the surfer, but I agree the view of the surfer looks stupid...not trying to look up the shorts of my fellow bros.
i got one on my boogie, but i face that thing forward cause i've accepted the fact that i look like a friggin retard when i'm trying to manuever. coolest thing to replay when you get deep though
I agree with everyone. I have a gopro and have a mount on an old fish. I bought it because i wanted to have at least one picture of myself surfing. Turns out the video and pictures are pretty bad and that angle is just weird. The videos with the camera facing you are pretty much unwatchable. The only thing that looks kinda normal is to pull a still from the vid as the wave starts to barrel.
