just wondering who has done it and how it went, I plan on doing it to an old suit with the warmer water on its way. Just cut a little above the elbow? any sort of frilling or anything?
ive done it. it works but it was so heavy. used it once. if you know how to sew you have to sew the opening to a smaller diameter cuz itll open up and flush water. and to make sure it doesnt fray you and fold the end over and sew it. like the end of your jeans

Yeah i did that with an xcel 3mil infinity last fall after buying a 4/3.. very pleased with the results. No fraying or anything, but maybe keep an eye on the seams with some neoprene repair stuff in case something goes awry.
I have done this with 3 -4 suits in the past. just measure and cut it straight using a good set of sissors. never had any problems with fraying, if the seams start to unravel a drop of wetsuit glue will take care of them
