I have a quick question about the forecast. I read that for the morning of 9/25 the southern facing beaches would have more favorable conditions when taking into account the wind. But when I compare the surf forecast between Monmouth County and Ocean City NJ (monmouth county facing east and ocean city facing south) it looks like the conditions in monmouth county will be cleaner than in ocean city.

Is there something else that plays into the forecast for different beaches or perhaps am I missing something?

local wind is the variable that you are missing. General areas get wind from the same direction, but it changes regionally as you head north or south. So, while Most "South Facing" beaches are favorable, probably because there is a NW wind, which would make it primarily offshore. If the east facing beach is reading cleaner, who knows. There are tons of little differences in the data if you look at spots right next to each other....

So, use the South Facing beaches as a generalization, while each place will be different regardless. different bottom condtours, continental shelves, if you have offshore and tall buildings everywhere... There are a lot of small factors that lead into the data... and of course, the data can always be wrong....

I think southern facing beache are supposed to be bettre because the swell is coming from a hard south angle. Southern facing beaches wioo pick up the swell better.

I think the winds will actually b better for east facers.

I think you might be misunderstanding wind terminology. In OCNJ, the wind is SW. This means its coming from the south not blowing to the south. In OCNJ that would make it onshore/sideshore. In Monmouth the wind is a little different (wind can vary locally as Zach said) and is coming from the WSW. That makes it almost straight off-shore on an east facing beach
