university of hawaii ?

don't know anything about the school but I would say if you have the chance to go there then take it. I went to UNCW and wish I had gone further... Cali or hawaii would make for siiick memories...

 

the party scene at university of Hawaii blows cock and the school has no hot chicks and also everybody is as dumb as a rock there

 

and if u wanna get into a cali school from out of state u gotta give the dean of admissions a blumpkin

 

DON'T go to University of Hawaii-- It's a total commuter school-- 55% of students commute from home.

THe University of California school system is so freaking hard to get in to out of state. I'm looking to appply to UC Irvine, SD, and SB. The GPA to get accepted to SB (the easiest of the three) is around a 3.9 AND THAT'S UNWEIGHTED. UC does not weigh honors classes outside of the state of california, and they only look at your soph and junior grades.

Basically, that sucks for me because I took all honors last year (no AP classes were available soph year) and I got B and B- for a bunch of my classes because they were super high level classes. This year, I've taken more regular classes and I've gotten my unweighted GPA up some as I got straight A's first semester this year. However, I calculated my unweighted GPA and it is between a 3.6 and 3.7 (I don't know exactly which classes they take into account).

Dude, basically if you're not a really good student out of state, it will be VERY hard to get into the UC system. That's why I'm looking at Cal Poly- it's a bit easier and they have what I'm looking for. Plus, Cal Poly has a whole factory where you can learn how to shape boards. Already know how to shape boards? Just take an easy test and you can use their facilities and equipment for shaping, and they order the blanks for you. It's frickin siiiiiiiiick. If I go there, I wont bring any boards from the east coast because it will probably be cheaper to just make the boards there than have to bring my own boards! hahahahhaa

 

^^ haha, if it's so hard to get into Cali do this:

After high school move to Cali and get a job where you pay taxes and attend community college

After 1 year claim residency

Then if your grades are good you are a Cali resident transferring in from a local community college

You get in easy and you pay in-state tuition.

Not sure how easy it is to get residency but this is what I wish I did for UNCW. Would have saved like $100K.

 

If your grades suck why don't you go to a local college for a year to get them up? That way your parents won't spend a fortune for you to go out there just to surf and party.

 

Actually since CA is broke, they really need your 10-20K a semester out of state tuition.

 

My sister went to college in Hawaii (at Chamanade, not U of Hawaii) and she isn’t ever coming back. But U of Hawaii is for people who are dumb like hammers. So, don’t go there. Also, the cost of living there is outrageous and you pretty much have to be willing to live a lower standard. But the surf is worth it. If you try to go to Cali, it’s really hard to get into any of the UC campuses out of state. You should look at going to community college first then transferring.

 

My fiance slipped through the cracks and got into the SDSU system after 4 months of us living in california. She was a resident right away. She just told the lady at the desk that she moved here 3 years ago and she had just gotten her license... Even if you do have to wait a year, go to city college or something in SD for a year or something. Surf everyday anyway, and transfer into UCSD or something after a year. Remember that CA has the cheapest tuition on the planet if you live in state. Its like under $100 per class at the junior colleges and like $1000 a semester at SDSU.... Its super cheap. UCSD is the best around here, just because SCRIPPS and blacks are basically on the campus. But if you go to SDSU, you just do what everyone else does, and live at the beach and drive 10 minutes inland to SDSU. State us much easier to get into than UCSD anyway.

 

Seriously, take it from me. Doing your research to become a resident like Zach said ^ is going to pay off big. Take a couple days and figure out what you have to do. Work for a year, save and surf and then take advantage of in state tuition. You could probly also buy a place really cheap out there at this point, hang onto it and make some serious money when the market turns around. That's what I would do if I got to do it all over...
